Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but if you're having problems with the heading drifting as you enter a hover here's a tip.

press LALT T for Hover then press x

I programed this to a button on the 940G and it works great. The heading remains rock solid where I was pointing the nose with one press of a button when I entered the hover. It also greatly improves the accuracy of the Turn on Target feature.

When programing the 940G make sure you use "Record Pauses" when setting up the script.

Thanks for the tip!

Could you maybe explain the logic behind this? In this macro, you are sending two commands: the Set Hover Mode command and then a Right Rudder command. How would this be different from setting hover mode and then tapping the rudder pedal? And does it make a difference whether it's the right or left rudder you activate? And I guess I'm not sure why this provides such a stabilization? Would appreciate your views on why this works.

Also, why do you say to record pauses for this macro? Do you intentionally pause between setting hover mode and hitting the rudder? For how long do you wait? I'm assuming here that the X key is repeating if you hold it down so I guess I have to ask if you do and for how long?

I'll try this this afternoon but just wanted to ask about your through process here :smilewink:.

Appreciate your sharing ... this is a good community and a good sim! And now we have a good controller in the G940! (Notice I said a good controller :) ... it's not perfect but I think it's a huge improvement over my X52 Pro).

I discovered this by accident. I'm not sure why it works, and as far as the logic, it shouldn't be necessary, however, since we're dealing with a computer instead of a helicopter I'm not sure it's worth a lot of over-thinking.

I don't believe it maters which rudder pedal key you press, they both seem to have the same effect if pressed once right after the hover.

It seems to be important to record the pause when scripting the macro or this doesn't work with the 940G as I believe it just sends the inputs out too fast for the sim to catch it all.

This works every time for me and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE how the KA50 flies and trims with the 940G FFB both in and out of Flight Director mode. When doing a lot of maneuvering, I use the Flight Director mode, tap the trim just prior to going back to full AutoPilot mode and it's rock steady - no bobbing - slow to hover, hit the programed hover button on my 940G and again, the KA50 enters a solid hover with the heading locked where the nose is pointed using the above macro.

Hope this works as well for you.

Maybe hitting one of the rudder keys and releasing it centers the rudder input, including whatever you had added up in the trimmer system? Meaning, it zeroes the rudder?

Jup, that's exactly what it does.

You can do it manual to. Press trim button, come to hover, push left or right pedal so the chopper is not rotating anymore, release trim button, release peddals and stick. The god thing about the manual method is, it works even if there's strong wind.

In strong wind conditions the 20% yaw authority of the AP may not be enough to maintain heading. In this case you may need to trim the rudder "against" the wind forces. :joystick:
