Ok, I have recently completed the Deployment campaign (but still feel very much a 'rookie'). After a couple of days off I have now started the Georgian Oil War (version 1.1). A question please - Is this campaign a step level increase in difficulty (or is it my imagination)? I have had 5 attempts at the first mission and have yet to make it last more than a few minutes before I get toasted. I am ingressing at not much more than ground level but it does not seem to help - I get more ordinance/SAMs' fired at me than I can handle.

Any advice appreciated.

I'm a bit of a coward. I usually hover at the ingress point and send a wingman ahead. When he starts to report 'enemy seen' etc I task him to attack air defences. He doesn't usually last long but it gets rid of a few Manpads and SAMs and highlights where they are...

Use him in reconnaisance roll and have him send you D-Link targets too? Don't send him to far.

That first mission is a bitch. The front line is like, 500 meters from the airbase. It's crazy. =(

I dunno if there are any user campaigns that have been posted yet, but there are a ton of missions that have been posted. You could try those to hone your skills before diving into hell. ^^

Thanks for the D-link suggestions I will see if it helps. I am glad that someone else thinks that this first Georgian Oil War mission is a 'bitch'

Edit: OK, I'm getting into this (what a great game!). Almost there but no real idea of what the 'success' criteria is. Do you have to knock out all of the enemy units to gain a ‘success’ At present I'm flying around without really knowing what I have to do to succeed?

I wasnt sure at first either, what I think must be done (works for me anyway) is complete the objective and do all the waypoints. Pretty sure landing is optional, as long as you do the objective.

Open up the mission in the mission editor and look at the Mission Goals section.
