Latitude Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Help please! I was playing through the second mission in the Georgian Oil war - with no apparent problems - when my PC locked up completely. Sound was still working but the game (and my pc) had frozen. Only way out was a Ctrl-Alt-Delete followed by task manager and 'end program'. From memory this has happened once previously in the Deployment Campaign. EtherealN Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 What sound card do you use? It would appear that the problem arose in sound.dll, so that's where I would suspect the issue is. It would help to know if it's reproducible though. Latitude Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 Thanks for the prompt reply. My sound is onboard, RealTek HD Audio, on a Foxconn P35AP-S Mboard.
EtherealN Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 If possible, see if there's a away to consistently replicate the problem - that is, find a scenario where it always or almost always happen. That would help identifying what the issue can be. Eplosions, gunfire, radio chatter etc.
EtherealN Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Hard to say what causes it then. :/ Could be drivers, could be the hardware itself, could be the sound code, could be the windows HAL... But at least it means it isn't a constant problem for you. :) If it happens again, collect those dumps again and maybe a pattern can be detected, but until then it's difficult to say much about it, sadly. I'll be on the lookout for it if it happens for me too tho, since I also use a Realtek onboard sound chip. Tbag Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Have the same problem, playing the 4th mission of the Deployment campaign. After I destroyed the two-story building and blew up the car next to it, the FAC doesn't say anything anymore and a few minutes later the game stops. I can also reproduce it. Also have realtek onboard sound, Win7RC 64 [/url]"Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so." - Douglas Adams
oho Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I have a realtek onboard sound too and since patch 3.01 some missions by mbot freeze on a certain point. These I played before the patch without problem. Seems really to be a patch issue. Where do I find the error messages I could send you. It is pretty repetitive I think.
dragony Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Did you tried to update audio driver? WBR, =FV=BlackDragon. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
