Thought i would ask again, one problem that has always plagued me in DCS is the shakiness of the TrackIR.

seems to only happen in this game, when viewing the track views (Head, Gauges etc..) it is smooth as can be..

i've gotten around it by using the trackIR pause function during startup, once i don't have to click that many switches it more tolerable.

i find it especially irritating when you are trying to look back to turn on the UAV and ekran, there seems to be some "bottom" out boundaries that you can't look down too far etc..

lately its just gotten to be a really pain.

has anyone else experiences this? where when you look down or right or anywhere it just jumps, almost likes its trying to return to center.

any suggestions on getting it to be smoother?

i should note in other games it is as smooth as it can be, i play Arma2,Arma1,IL2,Dirt and Freefalcon 5.. just for some reason in DCS its super shakey.

Which version of the trackir software are you using? (I'm using 4 hardware with the 5 software)

Try changing the smoothing setting in trackir if it's a bit jumpy, but if it's jumping to center when you're looking near the limits then check what's happening in the tracking display, that's caused by the trackir either losing one of the dots or maybe picking up another light/heat source and getting confused.

Are you using a trackclip or the vector thing on a hat? Do you wear glasses (I do, and sometimes they get in the way of the trackclip).

Ultimately you'll probably need to increase the sensitivity of your profile so that you can more easily reach the rear panel in the Shark.

If it only happens in DCS, it is probably not the unit or the setup but the profile being used for DCS. Try to make a custom profile for it or edit the one you have for a better response.

If it is unstable in other games/sims best advice I can give you from my experience is to:

A: Limit light sources as best you can from behind you.

B: Experiment with the position and distance of the TIR unit.

C: Try it at different distances from you (within reason) and postion it at the same level as the clip.

D: Use the camera view to make sure your head when at rest center is postioned in the center of the cameras field of view.

Hope you figure it out.

Good Luck!

Ah, yes - when Smil mentioned that I remembered my own similar experience.

Just so that you can eliminiate "external sources" - do this only when the problem occur:

- Go to the TrackIR app, View menu.

- Bring up the "Tracking" window.

Monitor and check to see if there's a lightsources-intrusion into the TrackIR tracking scope.

I've had a couple of those darn lightbulbs behind me annoy me like that in some very specific situations - and never in any other games. ;)

So i went through all of these and in the end what it turned out to be was i found some old ancient thread about the same thing here and in there was a suggesting to put TrackIR affinity to 1 CPU instead of 2.

i did that and it fixed the issue .. i am just finding this odd that DCS is the only game that has an issue with TrackIR having its affinity set to 1 CPU.

either way it works great now, its just so nice to have it working.

thanks for all the suggestions..
