Feuerfalke Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Hello, I am testing windows 7 and blackshark. I am getting this error with OPTIONS menu. After that, control tab is totally empty. Thanks. What version (language) and what patch (101, 101a, 101b) ? Did you install and run as administrator? Nightshadow81 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I am having the same issue. English version 1.01b. Was logged in as admin but didn't explicitly run install as admin.
Ruski Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Hello, I am testing windows 7 and blackshark. I am getting this error with OPTIONS menu. After that, control tab is totally empty. Thanks. Hello This problem is tetected in my installation on Windows XP 32 bits but inthe version 1.01 after the patch was aplicated. In the version 1 there is no problem. I can supossed that with the last versions of windows (SP3 or Windows 7) the patch 1.01b installation can have this problem. Sorry by my english. I'm waiting for a new release of the patch or a hot fix Ruski
Feuerfalke Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 You should install it as administrator on a clean installation of BlackShark as recommended in the patches readme and the official announcement. There is a chance, though, that if you run e.g. an English Version on a German Computer, there will be an error during installation that leads to your error-message in the options-screen. It's not the patch itself, but the installer used. You can use a workaround by changing your regional settings to English (UK), just for the installation of the patch. You can switch back to your own settings after the installation. This should work, though it causes a little 'trick'. This problem was the reason why there was Patch 101a, but apparently when the uninstaller was fixed for 101b this error reoccured. There's probably gonna be a new version soon. Until then, use the above 'trick' for installation. KilRoY66 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I'm using DCS with windows 7 32bit without problems. In about 1 month of daily session never seen this kind of error. To be honest I never had a crash attributable to Blackshark. I use a clean (no mods) install with latest patch.
JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 (edited) Same here: I have purchased the englisch version of DCS already at least 6 months ago. (I also purchased the russian version as well, before!) But no I am somewhat getting really frustrated !! I jst did a fresh install (on my new Win7 64 pro) of the english download version + installed the english patch 10.0.1b! When I start the game and go to options screen I get an error that looks like the error's that I remember in regards to the localizatioin issue. So, for me this issue is not fixed! BTW, I use loaclization (Austria/Österreich), maybe that is is causing the issue ?! Any one else had, or having this problem? KAYH, (how) did you fix your issue? Edit: Arrrghhh: And I have used another activation because I was not able to re-activate (I have stored deactivation keys) because the re-activatoin process is either not working or I am to stupid to understand it !! Honestly I am now really getting p****d off a little. I just cant run DCS BS after applying the patch!! That is very annoying !! PoleCat Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I am running under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and just recently did a full re-install and the patch. I have had no such issues. Did you Install it under and administrator account with UAC disabled outside of the program files folder? Localization issue maybe? Sorry you are having troubles and best of luck finding a solution. S! Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/

S! Out I did every thing according to to official procedures. Additionally I also did a complete reinstallation with the "supposedly working little trick" mentioned in the thread. No luck either way! Panzertard Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Hello folks. There's very little facts in your posts. Maybe you could throw in a few dxdiags / logs. Please check http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 for more details. :) We may need to see the big picture for your setups - Dxdiag should provide us with that :) The mind is like a parachute. JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) I just noticed, that directx does not distinct between austrai and germany as "location". Because in my Windows Austria is set up as location. DXDIAG reports Germany. However, there should not be any difference in regards to language and format settings anyhow. Edit: actually, I noticed a difference in the date format: (Probably we found the first windows bug *g*) Austria: "TTTT, TT.MMMM.JJJJ" Germany: "TTTT, T.MMMM.JJJJ" (only one letter for day?!) Not exaclty sure what that implies, but does not make sense to me! dxdiag:DxDiag.txtDxDiag-64.txt Edited October 18, 2009 by JaBoG32_Prinzartus Windows 10, I7 8700k@5,15GHz, 32GB Ram, GTX1080, HOTAS Warthog, Oculus Rift CV1, Obutto R3volution, Buttkicker [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ЯБоГ32_Принз

Unfortunately Windows API doesn't always provide the correct information to software (such as DCS). So you may have found something. As for tests; - Set "Location" to the same country as your DCS (English DCS means US/UK location) - Set Formatting (for date + currency) to the same as your DCS version. - Is the problem occuring in a "clean" DCS v1.0? - And uninstalling, reinstalling, then applying the correct versions (language wise) for DCS, whats the result then? Btw, using German version? You're using the "full" DCS: Black Shark 1.0.1b patch (German) patch then I assume? The mind is like a parachute. Your asumption is wrong, I use only downloadable-english software (game+patch-1.0.1b) by ED. Only my OS is a german OEM. Edit: I completely installed wit location UK and Format ettings englisch UK. Afterwards I am able to enter the options menu. If I switch location back to Austria again (incl. lokal Format settings) I get the error again. It is not an option for me to change format settings befor I play the game, maybe only until there is a patch that will fix this!
