355th_Xantris Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 I have a question: if I am in F-15 and a Su-27 for example fires a ER at me in HOJ mode, will it go ballistic when I turn off my ECM before burnthrough?
gherring Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 I haven't had a chance to test this yet, but I'd imagine turning off ECM within range of a launched HOJ missile will result in radar lock and the missile will convert accordingly and still target you. There is a line in the readme that implies that if you then turn ECM back on before burn through range, the missile will go ballistic.
GGTharos Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Your jammer -helps- your defense. It's not a complete defensive package. Dont' rely on strobing your jammer alone, you'll be dissapointed with the results. Do your F/A-Poles and dodging and chaffing as necessary. Don't bother with chaff until the missile's close though ... chaff is most effective when the missile's just seconds away from hitting you. 355th_Xantris Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 Rgr, thanks. Another one, if I have ECM on it will affect my own missile as well. Does it affect my own missile the whole flightpath or just a certain part of it?
GGTharos Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I haven't checked that out...I don't think it does (but it quite possibly should) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
355th_Xantris Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 Just had my first succeeded HOJ shot with ER. This time I left ECM off, so maybe it does affect it.
