dooom Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I have mentioned i am learning the unguided systems and strafing run aspect of the game. In the Shooting Range mission, I have noticed that once i flyover the target area and would like to reverse my direction, i can't seem to yaw the nose over all the way (180 degrees) a la' pull up & perform a stick and rudder "hammerhead" or "High yo-yo". I will begin to pull back on cyclic & nose goes high. I leave collective alone. I depress right rudder pedal to the firewall. Nose swings maybe 60 degrees right and that's it. In order to get it all the way around i have to zero the back pressure on the cyclic and apply right bank with the right rudder... The best i can guess is taht i am not coordinating the controls appropriately - any tips? sobek Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 My guess is that you still have a lot of airspeed, so the yaw moment has to fight the headwind pushing against the rudder. Usually these maneuvers work very well and quite fast with the Ka-50. The above is just a guess, a track might be more helpful. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! I'll try to do it again now in mission and post track. S! sobek Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) Here's a track for you to see how i do it, plz disregard the fact that i'm flying like a firstgrader :). Note that i had to throw in quite some collective to be able to turn that fast. It's a bit tricky to get the right moment, to early and you wont turn, too late and you'll be flying backwards, which will make it way harder to control. Try starting with rather conservative stops and make them harder as you get better.Hammer Test.trk Edited November 5, 2009 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa!
