Sky Eagle Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Hi guys. I am modeling (first time ) a plane. The CT-114 Tutor used by the snowbirds. Now i am very very new too 3Dmax7. And i have some questions. I have already a part of the fuselage and the wings. Only i have a major problem in my fuselage. As u can see in this pic. my nose is f*ck*d *p. Now my question is , can i make this good and how ? if not , do i need too make it again ??? Allso how do u guys make everything that smooth ? I have already 11461 polygons and it still looks bad :( Some help would be really appreciciated. Grtz Eagle
Allochtoon Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Hi, not a bad start :) Can you give me a 3d wireframe of the nose? What works for me is first build the rough shape, with not that many "height" parts of the cilinder. Selecting a bunch of vertices and scaling them doesn't wreck your mesh. After im satisfied with the basic shape, i start slicing some pieces (under edit mesh) and refining it. Just like sculpting. If you have too much vertices, you can *weld" them together, see an online tutorial for more on welding, its quite useful. Everyone creates ugly things in the beginning, you dont want to see my first creations :P. Good luck!
Allochtoon Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 How do i give u the 3D wireframe of the model ? You need a plugin for that, easiest way is to use printscreen.
Allochtoon Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Alright, first, resize everything 10 times smaller so the grid becomes useful, second, what are those "loose lines" can u give me a screenshot in edit mesh mode?
Sky Eagle Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 U mean the pics rized 10 times ? The loose lines. :p thats the problem. Dont ask how i did it :p Isn't there a way too close em ?
Allochtoon Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 No not the pics, the mesh itself. Give me a screenshot so i can see how those lines came up. And pick up a book of 3dsmax at your local library.
Sky Eagle Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 Check ur Pm Crazyleggs :) Am gonna restart making this model since i have it too hard messed up :)
crazyleggs Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Snowbird Pictures Flew with the Snowbirds yesterday in beautiful Comox, British Columbia. Here are some pics. http://members.shaw.ca/nick_chayer/ 1
SwingKid Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Am I seeing things, or is the PIC taking photos from the left seat in mid-display?! -SK
crazyleggs Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 LOL. Actually guys that fly most of the different formations on the left side of lead will fly in the right seat due to visibility and reference marks that they use. Right of lead fly in left seat. http://www.snowbirds.dnd.ca/team/main_e.asp I took the pics from the left seat. Pretty amazing experience!
