Aeroscout Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Some people in my squad had questions regarding the difference between the range scale displayed in the MFD and the HUD in the Russian aircraft. I put this PowerPoint together to explain how it works and how to better estimate ranges in the Red birds. PoleCat encouraged me to post it publicly, so here it is! Get it Here! I hope it helps some people! Aero 1 DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

golfsierra2 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 MiG-29 MFD upgrade 1.3 Thank you for this great tutorial. You explained very well the reason why HUD and HDD range settings are different. For those who want to train themselves in estimating contact ranges, here is another tool that I developed in 2004: You can find it in the download section of the VJS 161: http://www.vjs-161.de/release4/downloads.php?op=filter&id=Patches&uid=Gast&ur=1&sid= Note: This kind of extra display on the HDD screen isn't realistic, there are no such extra lines in real russian aircraft. kind regards, Raven....
