Cradle Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Hi all ive just completed the Altitude mission and after returning to the airfield (having never seen the enemy and no losses) the tower tell me to devert to the altarnative.. problem is that i dont know witch airfield that is. and not sure how to find it even if i did. i know how to search for airfields in the abris and that would be the simplest way i reccon, but then i have all those non directional beacons and what not i barely glanced at yet i can navigate to..i usually learn by adressing the "porblems" as they arise. Ive looked in the manual but im probably not looking in the right places... after i quited the mission i remembered that panel back on the right side and perhapps the alternative was marked there? or (as i presume) is there MUCH more to this? in falcon4 AF (witch i played a little only) the tower would give me a channel to switch to for communication to any alternative if needed... regards ----- My life as a child did not prepare me for the fact that the world is full of cruel and bitter things. -Robert Oppenheimer, 1904-1967 TM Warthog Hotas, TM Rudder, Track IR 5 Next Level GT Ultimate V2 Gaming Chair Racing Simulator Cockpit 43" Screen
Frederf Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Apparently it's in the text briefing before you begin the mission but I can't find it. Does Nal'chik have a runway? That is the only place you would learn this and I can't find the information. The ABRIS or NDB placard will list information but not about the mission. If you were told where to go I would think the easiest way to find it would be to use the ABRIS's "nearest airport" list. Unlike Falcon 4 all towers use frequency 127.50 MHz so that is no help to try to switch to the alternate airbase frequency and ask "where are you." You shouldn't worry about the mission, you didn't do anything wrong. There's really no way to know what the alternate is.
sweinhart3 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 What campaign is that mission in? I dont think Ive done that one but did you check to see if there was Airport 2 coordinates preloaded in the PVI-800? Frederf Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Altitude is a standalone mission not in any campaign. Also the airfield waypoints in the PVI are done as takeoff airfield and landing airfield.
sweinhart3 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Ok well I meant landing field coordinates. Some missions will have coordinates for a landing field other than the takeoff field. I said airfield 2 because thats how its selected on the PVI. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
Frederf Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Right but if the designated primary landing field is the same as the primary takeoff airfield, which it should be for Altitude, then only Airfield 1 is programmed. Secondary airfields wouldn't have a PVI entry.
sweinhart3 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Yes. I havent flown that mission so was just wondering if a secondary airport was preprogrammed. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
