Finally grabbed myself a copy of Lock On via eBay; stoked!

Just wondering if it is as graphically intensive as DCS: BS?

I'm looking to run it on my laptop which has an ati radeon mobility x1400

Not as intense as Black Shark for sure. It does have some 3rd party addons that really help. Hope lofc v2.0 will improve some of the graphics area.cheers.

It will run yes, but with that card it wont look pretty.

It should however in my experience run significantly faster than BS.

I have run lockon on an X1600 mobile and it can run medium details reasonably fast.

S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'

The framerate in Lock On has high peaks and low valleys. The framerate in Black Shark has a more even framerate, but probably a lower one on average. In LO typically a player will see some extremes in either direction depending on where you're flying and your altitude. This has been my experience, anyway.

I have yet to see a laptop run it without a significant struggle..

I have.

There are laptops made for the gamer market, you know. You pay a premium for the minituarization but generally speaking anyone that shops around a bit can get a laptop that performs equally to a stationary - including laptops utilizing SLI/Crossfire technology with top-range GPU's.

DCS ran passably on my previous laptop, which was a lowly 2GHz machine with an 8600m.

The issue is that most laptops sold in a normal marketplace is not geared towards gamers - it's geared towards non-enthusiast "normal people" who just want a computer to bring along that can run Office, Facebook and play Minesweeper. :P But there are several manufacturers like Rock, Alienware and even some Dell products that make quite competent gaming laptops. I spent several years as a combination of a gaming enthusiast and a travelling consultant with an average of 200 hotel nights a year, so I was made to get those two to work together - and aside from a slightly smaller initial expense there was no issue.
