Owl Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Does any other have problems with Logitech G15 in DCS, with Windows 7? I have just changed to Windows 7 64 bit, with a complete new installation. I haven't upgraded my Vista. My hardware are completely the same. On Logitech's homepage, they have a list of hardware, which are compatible with Win7, and G15 isn't listed there. But in forums, people tell that Vista 64 bit drivers works fine. By so far, I haven't had any problems in other programs, but I haven't installed much yet. The most importent thing was to get airborne again. The problem is, then I in DCS go to options/controls, no keys are selected to any thing. Then I try to programe 2 keys in a combination, it won't allow me to. I have saved a profile, and then I loaded it, there was red marks on the joystick profiles. As I said, my system is completely the same, just formated the harddisk, and installed Windows 7 64 bit version. With Vista Home Premium, I have never ever had any problems. Please help me.

Have you by any chance saved your DCS "controls config" in a file called "Blackshark.lua" or overwritten any of the other files in that directory? Other than this I've would suspect Windows 7 abilities to detect "gaming device" on a G15 keyboard if you dont have the proper drivers. It should however detect any regular "QWERTY keys". It's a bit unclear if this is the kind of "keys" you are unable to use? The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning

It's a bit unclear if this is the kind of "keys" you are unable to use? No I have not saved my controls config in the Blackshark.lua or other files. Now, I have installed DCS trice, and same problem. Then I go to in DCS/options/controls, no keys are selected at all. I can programme single keys, but then I try to select a combination like shift+key, Alt+key and CTRL+key, Nothing happen. My joystick (Saitek AV8R-01) works fine, also its buttons works fine, but again, if I choice a combination like ALT+Joystick button 3, It´s showing red in the controls menu, and then I can't save my profile. Then I tried to select a combination with to keys (shift+key and so) nothing happened, What I mean is no error occour, then I try to save the profile, just because nothing is selected. I have saved a control config.lua file, before I changed to Win7, and I'm 100% sure it worked perfect. Then I loaded this file in my new installed DCS in Win7, my joystick and all its buttons work perfect, also the buttons I have created by my self, but again, all my keyboard key selections are gone. I have installed the newest software/drivers to both my keyboard and my joystick.
Owl Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 My son have a Razer Lycosa keyboard, it is a gamer keyboard as well, from a manufactorer. The reason I says that is because I´m sitting and upgrading his drivers on his computer. Not that he have problems in his kind of games, but then I got into Razer's homepage, I saw that they have an updated driver only to Windows 7.Please click the link below: http://www.razersupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloaditemid=290&nav=0,20 Especially the "bug fixes" made my attention: "Win, Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys not functioning after creation of macros. Only in Win 7 32/64" That´s exactly what my problem is, and maybe it is a general problem between Vista and Win7?
EtherealN Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 The neverending woes of specialist gamer keyboards... (Says I, who recently bought a full replacement suite from Razer :P Though I made the specific decision to go with the Arctosa instead of the Lycosa specifically to cut down on "special".) It definitely sounds like a possible hardware/OS issue. I read that as the keyboard possibly having to send the signals in a special way after creating macros (due to the standard having a limited set) - which the OS would then need to get translated in order to keep the normal functionality plus the macros. That is definitely a possible place for errors to come up. Do you have any available standard keyboard? Even if not, do make sure to test using your son's Lycosa - but do so without installing any drivers for it - allow it to operate as a completely standard USB keyboard. If it all then works we'll know for sure. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Panzertard Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Now, I have installed DCS trice, and same problem. Then I go to in DCS/options/controls, no keys are selected at all. I can programme single keys, but then I try to select a combination like shift+key, Alt+key and CTRL+key, Nothing happen. This definitevly sounds like there is a problem with the default "modifier" keys. We've not seen this problem anywhere else AFAIK unless someone had modified their controls and "modifiers" (Shift, ALT, CTRL - and made some custom modifiers like JOYBTN-3 etc) But it may be that it is your keyboard, it's drivers or config-software that causes this issue. I would urge you to try the following - if we then find it works in certain configurations, and stops working somewhere down in the list, we should be closer to identifying the problem; - Install a extra vanilla 1.0.0 DCS in another location (ex: D:\Games\DCS) No activation required if you just start SP, and go to the options/controls. If you stay away from "Fly" and MP then activation is NOT required. - Get rid of any "Config/Profile software" for your keyboard, uninstall it - keep all the drivers (latest versions) - Do *not* load any of your previous Config stored for earlier. - Test again. Other keyboards; - Borrow a vanilla keyboard from work/a friend. - Test another keyboard (your son's keyboard maybe?) without *profile software*, drivers only (built-in into windows). Next; - If it is working so far - then maybe upgrade that DCS 1.0.0 you just installed - Still without using any of your old "config.lua" files, test again. (all keyboards). - If it still works, you can now test loading your config.lua (all keyboards) - If that still works, you can then install your Keyboard Profiler-Software again. (your keybaord). Owl Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 Now it works After reading Panzertards advices, i got it to work, and found what did wrong. Because I knew my control profile worked very vell on my old system, I have loaded it right after I installed DCS, all the first times I tried to install it on my new machine. This time, I reinstalled DCS, and began to fly a training mission right a way. Now all the keys works fine. Then I load my old control file, it did all go wrong again. I still have my old machine, so I just tried to save my profile once more on that machine, and load it on my new machine. And again, it goes all wrong. So my conclusion is (on my system any way), that I can´t take the profile file on my old machine, and load it on my new one. If it is Vista vs Win7, G15 drivers or something else, I don't know. I just make my own profile on my new system, that's no problem. By the way, off course I will uninstall DCS on my old machine, so I don't break the law. Thank you all.
Panzertard Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Cheers, good to hear you found a working solution - the file shouldnt have been broken like that, but it was. Looking forward to see you in the skies :) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
