New Q about lasing

Ok I understand that the laser burns out/the issue of 5 series with 16 lasings etc etc.

 

My question is this:

 

Knowing each of the lasing sequences in a series lasts 10 seconds with a 5 second cool down, should i expect my schkval to inidicate a "T|" and see the "tA" lock indication go away?

 

i.e. I am lasing a ground target for 25 seconds. I believe i should expect to see the "tA" for 10 seconds... then "T|" for 5 seconds....at which point I would have to manually re-lock? Or does the "tA" just stay on?

I think you should have a count-down visible in the HUD. Don't re-lock until it is done.

The "TA" lock is not a laser function but an image analysis one so it works without the laser. The "TA" symbol has nothing to do with the laser status as it is optical image tracking. The laser has nothing to do with imaging lock, it only measures distances and guides the Vikhr.

 

Laser rangefinding does not stay on 10 seconds or 25, 3 seconds (FM 8-15). The Vikhr guiding grid stays on during the countdown which is usually 5-6 seconds longer than the missile needs to guide actually. You'll see the target explode usually with 5-6 seconds still left on the countdown.

 

The “ИД” (Range-finder) cue will appear on the HUD while the laser range-finder is active.

I don't know if I've ever seen this cue shown.

 

So the laser is on every rangefinding command for 3 seconds. During a Vikhr launch the laser is on from launch until 5-6 seconds longer than pre-calculated missile flight time.
