Producer notes were the BEST. For me they got me through the manual startup (shortcut key if you want to skip all that) and a number of other things.

I have a laptop and set it up next to my desktop and watched the video's on youtube paused and copied the movements to get the motor skills down. Once you've got that in the bag you can learn more about what exactly you're doing or just keep it a memorize startup. It was the easiest way for me to observe and repeat.

It is quite challenging so don't expect to master it over night :)...but that's all part of the fun.

Wow... I can't believe I didn't think of this. I was truly worried about the tutorials not being interactive... But I'll just set my netbook by me and do exactly as you did. Brilliant!!!

Will do!!! I graduated with my BA in Business Administration from UTA. (I'm back in school for a Computer Engineering degree)

I now live in Kerrville, Tx.

Now here is for my dumb question... If I play with people in the UK am I going to experience horrible lag like I do on consoles? (We don't really have "servers" in console games) Or will it all be dependent on my ping to the server? Do a lot of you guys play with people overseas with few issues?

Go to settings and pick any server you like! You will even get a damn PNG with almost artistically presented results :D Then ask active MP players if those results will be fine with BS.

Small world. As far as the ping Bucic covered that one pretty well.

Leading Edge Training will be producing video tutorials in different blocks. I'm not sure of the publishing times to be honest, but they're one to keep a third eye on.

Publisher's notes (videos) and the manual are gold, but one thing you'll need on top of it is a printout of the commands (it's in your \Ka-50\Docs\ folder). Unfortunately the producer's notes is more "show & tell" than they are anything else (e.g. it'll say "uncage the shval" but it won't tell you what key to push to do it)...but still an excellent reference to refer to.

Don't be afraid to pause the movie and hunt for stuff. Another handy tool is the Pit Trainer.

Honestly, the biggest thing for me was getting a grip on the combos for my HOTAS. Once that was done, it was just practicing basic helo flying (practice range mission is perfect for it). Once I got that down, I started practicing shooting stuff (same mission). Once I got somewhat of a grip on how things worked, I started campaigns.

Toast is good people and always offered to fly with me also (which we have yet to do heh).

Just have fun with it.
