SeaFoam Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 So my new setup is nearly complete, but I will have 3x 22" monitors in eyefinity shortly. I have an extra video card to stuff in so that I can have a 4th monitor running, but I want to use it for the SHKVAL display. Has anyone set this up?

I have a while back; there was a tutorial up by a Australian squadron I'll try to find it. But can you please post pics of your eyefinity setup and benches :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
SeaFoam Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Well, the 5870 will be here in... about 8 hours! The only bad part is my adapter won't be here until Thursday I am afraid. I have an old 20" 1680x1050 TN panel that is going to look so sad next to my 2 Dell 2209wa - It's just for testing, if the cheap adapter I got works then I can just order the 3rd monitor. Then I will snap some photos :)
Krippz Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Looking forward to it! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

(If you don't mind sharing the info). Thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
SeaFoam Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Oh sure - well the adapter isn't here yet so unfortunately I don't get to test it yet, I will give it a run tomorrow night after I get home from work. There is a big thread on the adapter at: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17468 Sounds like the secret is the bios update (which raises the DP port voltage) The adapter is at monoprice.com stock number 5135 http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042801&p_id=5135&seq=1&format=2 If it doesn't work I can get the active adapter from Dell for $75 and if it comes to that I will see if that price would stand for anyone.
SeaFoam Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Ok, here's my experience:(Posted on HardForum) Got the DP>VGA adapter from monoprice. When I first hooked it up it detected the monitor however it gave me a black screen at all resolutions. Went ahead and flashed my card with the latest bios (mine is XFX, used sapphire bios, no problems.) At that point I got the DP monitor to work at 1280x720, nothing higher though. Any time I tried to set up an eyefinity group it would error out and get a DP error. I'm assuming that is because it was trying to set the DP monitor to its maximum resolution. I just ordered the Dell adapter for $75, those people that got the DP>VGA working are lucky SOBs. When the active adapter gets here I will test and see if that bios update fixes the blinking issue.
