Presentation of FC

Hi, we have some problems with FC. We are small group of virtual pilots from Czech Republic who make LAN sim meets for public, former and present pilots. One of our interests is LOMAC too. We work in cooperation with local UbiSoft distributor. As far as we know FC will not be sold in Czech Republic.

 

1. we can't buy FC because our country isn't supported by Paypal

2. i personaly if i can buy FC i can't run it because i don't have internet at home and i can't activate it

3. we can't run FC on public presentations because we use different computers for them

 

Do anyone responsible have an idea how to solve these problems please? We would like to show FC to public(and use it on our LAN meets). For example on the beginning of next month there will be meeting of approx. 100 former and present czech military pilots and we would like to show FC to them.

Perhaps you can buy the Russian version of FC at http://www.ozon.ru as some did already?

1. ED already dropped PayPal as a mean to buy FC. They are working on varisign but I don't know what it is. Probably a way for on-line store to let customers use credit cards in a secured way?

 

2. I remember reading that you don't need internet access to activate Flaming Cliffs. The activation is stored in your registry or something like that.

 

3. May be you can contact ED directly regarding this. I'd think if you can prove to them your intention then they would be more than willing to work with you.

Apparently the English CD version will be available soon .. maybe nearer the end of this month but we’re not sure what type of copy protection it will use. People like me that are waiting for the English CD of FC are hoping for just a CD checker like the Russian Version of FC has but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Just to clearify,

 

1). You should be able to buy FC via creditcard(such as VISA) soon. The PayPal solution has been abandonned anyway.

 

2). You do not need internet to activate FC - there is an alternative manual activation process. So you can pay and download FC + serial # from one computer with internet access - then transfer the downloaded installer to your home PC, run the installer and activate FC via the manual activation process.

 

3). This is more of a problem - because the copy protection system of FC links the serial number of the software to your hardware. You can install FC on two different computers, but each time you switch from one computer to the other to play it, you will be asked to activate FC with the "new" hardware - and you can only do this up to 5 times in total.

 

You can try contacting Eagle Dynamics and explain your situation, but general speaking, you need a seperate copy(serial #) of FC for each computer you want to play it on.

The Russian CD version also has StarForce protection - there would be little idea in having this protection system on the English download version, if you could just by-pass it by buying a Russian or English CD version instead ;) .

 

The only differences between the Russian CD version and the English download versions are:

 

1). Language

 

2). The Russian CD version is "stand-alone" - the Lock-on base installation is included, so you dont need the original Lock-on 1.0 CD for installation.

 

3) Distribution - the Russian CD version is available from both online and "off-line" retail outlets....i.e. it can be bought in stores, while the English add-on verision, so far, is available only as a download from the Lockon.ru web site.

 

My impression is that an English CD version will simply be a case of putting the add-on installer + serial # on a CD. At any rate, I think it is safe to say that it comes with the StarForce protection system as well.

Yes that above mentioned meeting will take place with or without Flaming Cliffs but i hope with. I don't know our LAN meets it depends...
