sfsoundhound Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Hello everyone, I get a run time error with dcs.exe whenever I try to start a mission. I have uninstalled/reinstalled like 8 times with different directories, as administrator, did disk cleanup, removed all un necessary programs, installed the patch, still would not work. This is about 5 seconds after I click "begin" or "fly" or whatever the start button is. It's not just missions it's everything. Instant action, training etc...
EtherealN Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 We need a lot more information about your system, OS and drivers to be able to analyze this problem. You have crash logs in the Temp folder of your DCS:BS install directory, zip those and attach them here. Error logs might also help, same location. However, the most helpful would be a DxDiag output file - directions on how to obtain one can be found in the sticky thread "Help us Help you" here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
sfsoundhound Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Program: C:\games\BlackShark\bin\stable\dcs.exe This application has requested the runtime terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team. This is the exact error that only happens when I try to fly any sort of mission/training/tutorial/instant action. My computer is an HP Pavilion dv5-1002nr entertainment notebook PC. AMD Radeon HD 3200 graphics with 512mb. Windows Vista. AMD Turion x2 64. can you be more specific as to how I obtain the error log? The temp directory in my blackshark directory is empty.
EtherealN Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Empty? That's interesting... Probably means that no error log nor crash dump was created. See if you can arrange that DxDiag output file, it'll give much better and more detailed information than anyone has any time to type and will give us an easily parsed overview to look for things that might cause the issue. Again, directions in the previously linked thread. Use "Go Advanced" and then the paperclip to attach. Aside from that, there might be something telling in the error log that was hopefully spawned by windows. Basically, when you press fly, the launcher.exe applications saves information to the Temp folder, calls the dcs.exe application, and then closes itself (to free up memory). It appears that something is causing this to get intercepted. You could start by running as administrator, but in that install directory that shouldn't make as big a difference. Check for windows logs like this: Start > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions > View Problem History Look up dcs.exe and/or launcher.exe in there. Doubleclick the entries and it'll give some information that might help. An example of what it might look like (from my own machine) is this: Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: DCS.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 493d3989 Fault Module Name: DXRenderer.dll Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4933f3bb Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0003043f OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1053 Additional Information 1: 88cd Additional Information 2: 8fb030ed1410b1537d2ff6ce494a5078 Additional Information 3: 033b Additional Information 4: 4f66b6744a9330cc21e55b5e1c2de6e0 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
topdog Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) Make sure the files that would have been output to your \temp folder didn't get redirected under UAC babysitting procedures to the virtual store. Mine hasn't created a folder (yet) for anything I do in DCS:BS but it did some for my playing in Lockon so look in a similar location to see if you're getting output there. E.g. C:\Users\Topdog\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On - Flaming Cliffs 1.2\Temp>dir Volume in drive C is bringit Volume Serial Number is C8EE-2179 Directory of C:\Users\Topdog\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On - Flaming Cliffs 1.2\Temp 23/01/2010 09:21 PM <DIR> . 23/01/2010 09:21 PM <DIR> .. 05/02/2010 10:27 PM 0 AsyncNet.log 05/02/2010 11:46 PM 4,328 Error.log 05/02/2010 10:32 PM 96 errors.log 05/02/2010 10:27 PM 0 mp_log.txt 05/02/2010 10:27 PM 7,739 System.log 23/01/2010 09:16 PM 2,010,238 Tacview-20100123-211114.txt.acmi 23/01/2010 10:03 PM 8,616,722 Tacview-20100123-212119.txt.acmi 05/02/2010 10:32 PM 0 Voice.log 05/02/2010 10:32 PM 0 VoiceText.log 9 File(s) 10,639,123 bytes 2 Dir(s) 135,824,138,240 bytes free C:\Users\Topdog\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On - Flaming Cliffs 1.2\Temp> (Instead of ...\Program Files\yaddayadda yours would follow your own installation path for BS) Edited February 9, 2010 by topdog [ i7 2600k 4.6GHz :: 16GB Mushkin Blackline LV :: EVGA GTX 1080ti 11GB ] [ TM Warthog / Saitek Rudder :: Oculus Rift :: Obutto cockpit :: Acer HN274H 27" 120Hz :: 3D Vision Ready ]

Mustang Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I have the same problem.Can you please tell me with single steps because my efficiency to technical knowledge is minor, what can i do. thank you in advance You'll need to provide us with info of what kind of PC hardware you're running, and the version of Windows you're using (XP, Vista or Windows 7, 32 or 64 bit) before we can help you out. Best way is to run "dxdiag" command and then upload the details to us.
astakomakaronada Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 These are my pc's specifications.Thank you for your interestingDxDiag.txt
Mustang Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Ok, it appears that you're running Vista 32bit, could you please follow this link and read the instructions http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1084420&postcount=8 after carrying out the commands, reboot then re-run DCS Black Shark and see if the runtime errors persist.

Thank you very much for your informations.I really appreciate you spent your time helping me. Thats great :) BTW when you say "the image doesn't cover the whole screen" that might be because you're in windowed mode, go into your options ingame and check your graphics settings.
