Without AWACS information on range, it's all guesswork . . . . BGP's right. There is an aircraft in front of the the player using ECM measures. Not sure if it's in the manual but it's definately explained in the relevent tutorial for the Su-27

Friendly a/c with ECM can also couse jamming to your radar. GROM- Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno Manewrowego
