Hey guys, I'm getting 60 fps in game play on high settings and I know I can get higher but it seems like the game is limiting the fps to 60. what can I do to switch this limit off within game? also within graphics.cfg i have graphics set to =0 .

Thanks

Sounds like you have vSync active. Check your graphics card driver settings.

Note that if your screen is a 60Hz screen, you will not actually "see" anything more than 60FPS since the screen will only update 60 times per second anyway.

If you have an LCD display your monitor will only max out at 60fps...from what I Understand this has to do with the Hz that it runs...most monitors run at 60hz.

The responses are correct. If you are watching on an LCD screen, or even old CRT computer monitors, 60Hz is the maximum that is displayed. You could ramp your game FPS to a million and not see a difference. (This is kind of like watching 720p and 1080p screens side by side from 6ft away. Unless you're a pro videographer/editor etc. you won't be able to tell the diff.) Many new tv's/monitors from 2009 and later refresh at 120Hz, and some really high end sets refresh at 240. Still, the only way you'll be able to tell the diff is in very fast motion, like maybe the helo rotors.

As you can see from the thread, I was wrapped around the axle on this too. My monitor is a 60" plasma at 60 Hz.

The game will report no higher than 60 fps with Vsync on since that's all your 60 hz monitor can handle (I can get upwards of 100 fps occasionally on my rig with Vsync off but the tearing is horrible). It will report < 60 fps when it drops (though your monitor is now updating at 30 Hz). This caused noticeable stuttering on my rig, going from 60-30-60 again.

I originally tried to set MaxPFS setting to 60, to limit the fps to exactly 60 and avoid using vsync (vsync costs a little performance when enabled). In theory this would have worked, but MaxFPS isn't exact enough. It couldn't limit to exactly 60 FPS so I was still getting tearing with Vsync off. So I am back to using Vsync but am also forcing triple buffer with Rivatuner which gives smoother gameplay.
