Guest Dre Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Hi, Does anybody has some experience with 3d glasses and Lock-on? There are a lot of glasses but I wonder if it creates that great 3D effect the manufacturers promise, or is it just disappointing. And if it does: which ones are worthwhile buying. I'm using a TFT monitor. Best regards, André
Tracker Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 3D not yet. Before 3D lets get this: It will be better for us to wait for sim goggles with peripheral wrap. This will be the next step up from TrackIR. The technology is rather simple but the development is tedious. Road blocks to this technology are manufacturing costs of flexible LCD in the resolutions needed for head mounted gear. Temporary work arounds could include distorted primary image for lensoptical curvature to provide a true 130 degree angle from nose to ear each side thus allowing us to use existing flat LCD. Again, we need to boost the resolution to an apparent pixel size equivelent to that observed with the current focal length of a desktop monitor. The freedoms this will give (and eyestrain prevention) will launch this and other First Person Sim/games into a whole new direction approximating VR. When all else fails, Eject then read the manual. Oh, and a good wingman helps.
