walker450 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) I know little about modding. So I am here to ask the experts. :) Would it be possible to redo the KA-50 cockpit in the game, and create a "modern" looking cockpit? Something that would resemble the RAH-66 or AH-64D. I envision three large screens. (ABRIS, SHKVAL, MFD showing everything the guages on the right would show) Would it be possible to mod the game to reflect this? I have seen how some mods can extract the gauge data and put them on other monitors... is there a way to import new files, and create an all new MFD where the guages are?? I think this would be really cool. We could also add other mods to it to simulate FLIR etc. This would be like the KA-50B model... :) Edited February 28, 2010 by walker450 Speedpad for Inputs | My Simpit | Joystick Damper Mod
EtherealN Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Possible? Yes. If you have the source code. :P Though there have been successful cockpit makeovers in LOFC so there might be a trick I don't know about, but MFD's in particular would be a hard thing to get in properly without a bit of extra coding work. walker450 Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Thanks for the quick reply! What about exporting information to a second monitor, that would look like a normal MFD in modern aircraft. It could show a large artificial horizon, alitude, heading, airspeed, etc. etc.... This way a modern cockpit could be built and we wouldn't have to worry about changing the in-game images... Speedpad for Inputs | My Simpit | Joystick Damper Mod

EtherealN Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Yes, with LUA-export you can do all of that. Do a search for "Black Shark Virtual Panel" and check down in the Game Controllers/Cockpit Builder section. walker450 Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Thanks again. I found an interesting thread on doing just what we are talking about: LEAVU development phase, coding MPCD graphics I have only read part of the thread. It is intended for LOMAC but I think it could be applied to DCS. I know nothing of programming and writing code so it is way out of my capabilities to do anything. At least I now know that it is a possibility. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that DCS decides to add the AH-64D or a fictional Comanche. :) Speedpad for Inputs | My Simpit | Joystick Damper Mod

EtherealN Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I'll just keep my fingers crossed that DCS decides to add the AH-64D or a fictional Comanche. :) As far as official products go, the RAH-66 Comanche won't happen. It's cancelled. The AH-64D is unlikely at this time, since there's too much about it that's too classified to make it into a commercial product.
