How Can I decrease Free Cam's Altitude? Original min. alt. is 5m. But in promo videos Free Cam replaced at 1 meter. Is that an "editable" script ?

Changing lua files

Trying to reset terrain restriction to false, then saving - ultimately says "access denied".

Running Win7, using notepad. All DCS:BS and FC2 programs fully updated.

Any advice?

EDIT: Well, duh! guess I should read the sticky on editing lua files first. Nevermind this post...

Well, after trying the Notepad++ program - keeps asking if the file is open by another program, though everything seems to be closed. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you are using an administrator-account while editing?

Also, check Taskmanager / processlist to see if you find the Launcher.exe / DCS.EXE (or was it simulator.exe) running. In that case close it.

Otherwise check your antivirus - perhaps it's blocking it for you.

Or try a reboot to free up any locked files.

Running Win7 with Admin account (only account on this computer), tried downloading and using the Notepad++ program that was linked in the sticky regarding editing ".lua" files. When making the change (ie: setting terrain restrictions to "false" - then save, message comes up that "unable, check if another program is using the file."

Ran taskmgr - verified that none of the BS or FC2.exe is running. Re-boot computer. Even had gamebooster running - all other processes shut down before opening the Notepad++ file, etc.

In the Notepad++ program, found under settings the button for "UTF-8 without BOM" (whatever that means, but matched a comment made in the sticky...) so clicked on that the confirm proper encoding save...

Tried again with plain ol' Notepad, ultimately says "Not Authorized".

Didn't have this problem when running WinXP. Course no way I'm putting XP on this computer, lol.

This is where I'm at. Further advice appreciated. (Also tried to shut down AVG anti-Virus through the Processes' shutdown button, but got "Access Denied!" So much for Admin Rights...

Win7 with UAC on - will prevent you or a malicous wares making changes to C:\Program Files.

Make sure you Rightclick Notepad++ and use "Run as Administrator", reply to the UAC dialog - and use Notepad++ "Open File" function.

Now find the file, make the change and you should be able to save. :)

Yep - that last worked. Definitely a PITA having to deal with "Administrator" stuff. When there's only one account on the computer - that aspect should be disabled automatically...

Last night I found a long workaround by saving as "ServerA" to desktop, renamed to "Server" and cut/paste/replace back into position. But thanks for your last suggestion - I thought I had tried that route, but I guess I hadn't.

Greatly appreciated.
