sniffer Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Sorry if it was somewhere mentioned but couldn't find... My last few days I could name Declaring war to M$ Win7. Finally after transfering a lot of data into new hard drive, next to old drive and back again - I won! Generally it's not the point... In one word I need to repeat this: I hate M$! I thought that they make better partitioning tool but no! He f$!ked up my HDD and overlap 3 partitions in one sector which was common to 2 partitions... Of course who help? Penguin. Linux r0x! Sorry for politics... What's the problem? LockOn - installed, patched 1.12b, SF installed, patched - game works... good! TrackIR (software ver. 5) - works... good! Saitek X52 Pro - newest software from official website, newest SST software from same website - error! Drivers installed but this is new software which can't load my *.dat profile. Software wants *.pr0. Any suggestions or converter? If I installed new driver and old (original from Saitek CD) SST software - it says that profile is not for this device. Later I read that such differences (new driver, old software) can't be. Ok - my bad... Next suggestion - install new driver, and from properties grab the direct link to software. Tried - link don't work... Error! So I found an old, strange solution on Saitek forum how to use XP driver with Vista systems and above (putting new d3drm.dll into system32 directory). I'm not sure if it works cause guys posted all of this nearly 2-3 years ago but it helps a lot of people. Generally If it's any other solution I would like to take it. If not - I'll try my last option... Any suggestions? Thanks for help! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sniffer Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 OK - Things are much complicated now because my last possible solution doesn't work :( Standard message: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
topdog Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'm only a Vista user without 'old' profiles to try and convert or force into the new software; but using new drivers plus new software, does the profile editor seem to 'work'? I mean, are you then able to at least edit/update the profile and save it to .pr0 format without it going (or looking) crazy? Because this is what I expected it to look like: If so it may just be best to redo the profile or ask questions @ www.saitekforum.com (though I must admit it has been challenging just trying to get an account registered and activated there with no reply yet to forum admin emails). sniffer Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) I just installed newest software back (official Windows 7 from their official website) and will try in few moments... One thing pissing me off totally in all those things... I treat Saitek seriously but where is their customer support? I believe it's not hard... Oh I forget about things why I asking here not on Saitek forum? Activated account and effect: <login>, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. Maybe any idea - how to register on www.saitekforum.com? Newest driver and software (first few clicks and unhandled_exception - nice): can't open *.dat file but CAN upload the profile... OK - if no ideas how to do this things I rewrite all profile from *.dat to *.pr0 - it shouldn't hurt... ;) Keep smile Sniffer - Saitek is... ahh whatever... Going for a beer! Edited March 9, 2010 by sniffer [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sniffer Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Maybe any idea - how to register on www.saitekforum.com? Out of date: today had an e-mail: Account validated at The Official Saitek Forum! Just FYI that it can be done! Can't believe, need 3 attemtps... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
topdog Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 They activated mine today too, I only bugged them once about it, so they just don't check/process that mailbox very often. I already had just about everything I needed answered by then though heh. 1 [ i7 2600k 4.6GHz :: 16GB Mushkin Blackline LV :: EVGA GTX 1080ti 11GB ] [ TM Warthog / Saitek Rudder :: Oculus Rift :: Obutto cockpit :: Acer HN274H 27" 120Hz :: 3D Vision Ready ]

beewee Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Well, I got a short and clear answer from Madcatz Euro Customer support concerning my X52 .dat profiles, the new Saitek Profile editor and Windows 7. It simply stated "Unfortunately, the latest driver and ST versions do not support the older .dat profiles. There is no converter to update the profiles." Slayer Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Yep there is no conversion :/. People were really upset when they did that a few years ago. The newer software doesn't have the 3D model of the stick anymore either but after much complaining they did put a picture of the stick back in so you can actually SEE which button you press. You MIGHT be able to download the windows XP virtual machine from MS and make it work with the old software but I wouldnt get my hopes up. Honestly though you'll be better off in the long run to start from scratch or download someones profile that you like and reassign the commands to your taste.
