Datalinking to AI

Ive played several missions in GOW campaign where after reaching my point of ingress Ill datalink a target to my wingman then send radio command to attack datalink target and he just says negative. A couple of times he will say attacking datalink target and then he goes does something else completely. Anyone else have problems with that? Just in case I double checked the manual twice that I was doing send the datalinked information correctly. Usually he obeys mission and rejoin but just gets shot down. Waste of perfectly good ammunition I say.

1. They won't attack friendlies.

2. AI love to fly very close to target especially if their spotting range is low

3. Are you ordering target or targets, by type or not?

Usually targets for target group. Generally I take out the anti-air and try to get ai to take out the tanks.

I'm just thinking if you sent a "air defense" type target and ordered the AI wingman to "attack targets by type" and he ran over he might ignore a T-72 because he's looking for some ADA.

without exploring much of the datalink yet...I tried to send some targets to wingman..but nothing seemed to happen so then after I sent a radio message to attack my target and he said negative ...so I'm missing a step or something either way...I'll look into it closer later

"Attack my target" means attack the target I currently have in a Shkval "TA" lock.

 

"Attack my datalink target" means attack the target at the location corresponding to the datalink point I just sent you. So you have to send a DL target then tell them to attack it.
