isbent Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 And found the FC patch 1.12b for free underneath 1.1b upon going to download it? Does this means the 14.95 for 1.1b is little more than a donation? On a positive note, everything arrived over the last couple of days!
Distiler Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 No it's not a donation XD You need to install 1.1b before installing 1.12b. AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
isbent Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 nope, I installed the 1.12b patch right over top of the newly installed 1.1 from the dvd that arrived yesterday. Awe crap. Is it possible the 1.12b is a complete version of the game, and I just purchased it? Meaning I thought is was an update but is in fact a full digital version of the game? So I've purchased it twice, and thereby disqualifying myself as being intelligent enough to be safely allowed to own it in the first place. What I bought - LOCK ON 1.1b: Flaming Cliffs The unofficial add-on for LOCK ON 1.1b: Flaming Cliffs is available for download! Flaming Cliffs may be installed over any version of Lock On: Modern Air Combat (1.0, 1.01, 1.02, English, French or German). Price: free All I needed - Patch 1.12b for "LockOn 1.1: Flaming Cliffs" simulator This patch can be installed over Lock On 1.1, Lock On 1.11 or Lock On 1.12. Patch version 1.12b includes fixes of various bugs found in the previous version of the game, as well as numerous improvements to it, such as: Wow. My bad for not researching it, but it is a little misleading. I wonder if the kind sales folk would hold the amount in escrow towards FC 2.0? I didn't even download the 1.1b I paid for an am not using the serial for it. I guess I could sell the serial somehow. Man I'm dumb...
Distiler Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) What a minute wait a minute...wich CD/DVD do you have? LockOn or LockOn Gold? The latter includes Flamming Cliffs so you obviously need to install just 1.12b patch. If you have vanilla LockOn cd/dvd you need to buy 1.1b (Flamming Cliffs) and install 1.12b patch. EtherealN Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 1.1b is Flaming Cliffs, a non-official addon to LockOn. 1.12 is a patch to said addon - basically it is the latest version of Flaming Cliffs (until FC2). You pay for Flaming Cliffs 1.x, not a specific number after the decimal. Vekkinho Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 What's 1.1b?! There's LOMAC CD - that's 1.0 and its required for Flaming Cliffs (1.1). Freeware patches 1.12a and 1.12b you can download and install onto 1.1. You chose 1.12a for 32bit Win (XP) 1.12b 64bit Win (Vista and W7) - IIRC I run game in 1.12a 'cause I use XP! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
isbent Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 Sorry, I've been working pretty steadily since I posted so I haven't had a chance to check back here. The information in my post above is copied and pasted from the lockon.co.uk site after I log into my account and go to the downloads page. I purchased the DVD off of the same website, which is version 1.1b, and was looking for the latest patch. I saw 1.1b and assumed they were charging for the patch for revenue when it asked me to purchase it. Had I scrolled down maybe and inch or two more I would have seen the patch, and not wasted the cash on a digital version of the game.
isbent Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) So I have lomac DVD part rev no 117 (arrived couple weeks ago) purchased from lockon.co.uk Flaming Cliffs DVD ver 1.1 (arrived couple weeks ago) purchased from lockon.co.uk LOCK ON 1.1b: Flaming Cliffs (Download version) purchased from lockon.co.uk (totally redundant back up copy?) I also downloaded and installed the 1.12b patch with out any trouble. The really funny thing for me is to go back to the site today and find it totally cleaned up so there's no way someone else can make that mistake. I'm pretty dumb, but it was pretty confusing. To any admins out there; If I can verify all of this, is there any chance of apply the cash toward 2.0? Edited March 19, 2010 by isbent
