bladeheli Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Hi Guys, Does anyone have any idea where I can get a joystick style trigger switch, can get hold of the microswitch part of it just need the actual red plastic part - if that makes sense. Have searched hi and low for one but no joy. Cheers Rich
Duckling Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Beside disasamble an older stickgrip, this might be a choise: http://cgi.ebay.com/RAF-Aircraft-Grip-Switch-Control-Column-Stick-Trigger_W0QQitemZ130317758616QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CPV_Aviation_SM?hash=item1e578b3098 Can't say if it's a single or dual detent mechanism though /gus - - - -
bladeheli Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Hi Duckling, Thanks for that, but looking for a possible supplier. Looking into producing custom flight controls! Will keep looking! Cheers!
Swetrekki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 If you need a couple then just make them youself... not beeing sarcasting or anything. look up rtv silicone and resin. buy one of the real switches and make a mold and away you go!:joystick:

It's just 2 microswitches side by side, and the trigger contains a spring-loaded rod that would make contact with one of the microswitches early, before a full depress allowed the main trigger body to initiate contact with the second trigger. The microswitches were covered by a thin strip of metal to allow the trigger rod/casings to slide against the face of the microswitch without having to have precision contact directly over the 'switch' part. The wiring of the microswitches was done that they shared the same ground power lead, such that switch1 had to be down before switch2 could engage (mechanically it took care of this anyway really, but electronically it was wired that way too). Sokol1_br Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) As topdog say, joystick trigger is not a one piece hardware - like this military trigger switch (1): http://www.guardian-electric.com/TriggerSwitch.htm This probably cost U$ 1000 or more... Joystick trigger is just a plastic (CH...) or metal (Cougar, X-52 PRO) part - the trigger lever - over ordinary micro switch. CH sticks use one like this: http://www.newark.com/omron-electronic-components/b3f-5050/tactile-switch/dp/88F4982?Ntt=88F4982 See this dual trigger "MOD" for CH F-16's stick too understand how this work: http://snomhf.exofire.net/dualTrigger.html Cougar trigger: http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/images/mods/trigger2.jpg http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/images/mods/trigger.jpg Saitek X-52 trigger: http://www.saitek.ru/other/x52inside/image118.jpg http://www.saitek.ru/other/x52inside/image120.jpg http://www.saitek.ru/other/x52inside/image122.jpg http://www.saitek.ru/other/x52inside/image124.jpg http://www.saitek.ru/other/x52inside/image126.jpg G940 trigger: http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=100337&stc=1&d=1256746041 You get a solid feel if use "kniter" switch type under trigger lever. (1) Similar to military one is these trigger switch for power tools: http://www.oursbiz.com/Products/b/44/Trigger-Switch-Pump-Electronic-Speed-Switch-Rocker-Car-Switch-Toggle-Switch-549547.jpg http://www.alibaba.com/countrysearch/CN-suppliers/Trigger_Switch.html Sokol1_Br Edited March 16, 2010 by Sokol1_br
bladeheli Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 hhhhmmm, Never thought of making my own:doh:! will look into that. Would work for the whole joystick too I guess! Cheers guys!!
Sokol1_br Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) Would work for the whole joystick too I guess! Yes, no "secret" hardware inside joysticks, only plastic or metal parts with cheap eletronics and switchs - even this new models with HALL sensor use cheap ones. DIY stick - with dual trigger, not two stage trigger: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2930867/D_I_Y_HOTAS.html#Post2930867 Sokol1_Br Edited March 16, 2010 by Sokol1_br
