... out of the blue I am having a Multiplayer (MP) issue in Black Shark. Single player runs fine; but when I try to run MP I get the following:

Windows cannot find ‘bin\stable\DCS.exe’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

app seems missing from folder.

I have uninstalled and re-installed completely 3 times... patched to 1.0.1c

All was working fine last week...... arrrrggggggggggggghh

My Flaming Cliffs 2 runs fine

Hm, strange.

And you've not moved around the installed, renamed folders?

Or installed any mods?

I assume "No" to both.

SP is started directly from the Shortcut.

MP is started using the Shortcut --> .BAT file in Windows.

This could indicate that:

1. Your BATCH/CMD environment isn't working properly.

- Did you install some software lately? Uninstall it to test.

- Could you please run a CMD prompt and type: SET

Then copy the text output (rightclick to mark, and copy) to a post.

- Also your Windows is having problems interpreting "long paths". Very unlikely though.

But, you may install the game to f.ex C:\Games\DCS or D:\Games\DCS or something to test this.

2. Or permissions/filesystem are having problems with your DCS.

Very unlikely, since SP works - normally CMD/BATCH should'nt be affected by this.

But then you may install the game to f.ex C:\Games\DCS or D:\Games\DCS or something to get proper access

Possible workaround, that may cure the symptoms - but not the cause.

1. Find the "Multiplayer.bat" in the root-DCS folder.

2. Edit it with notepad.

3. Replace everything with this text:

CD /D %~dp0
@start bin\stable\DCS.exe --net gui

And test again.

Are you using the multiplayer.bat link? Ensure that your multiplayer shortcut looks like this:

Target: C:\Games\BlackShark\Multiplayer.bat

Run in: C:\Games\BlackShark

Also, if you have it in Program Files or Program Files(x86), run as administrator.

The Multiplayer.bat should contain something that looks like this:

@start bin\stable\DCS.exe --net gui

Bomb from OP incoming .... ^^^

Ah darn, now you're the SECOND dude where I see these things from the SET environment:

- DFSTRACINGON=FALSE

- TRACE_FORMAT_SEARCH_PATH=\\NTREL202.ntdev.corp.microsoft.com\34FB5F65-FFEB-4B61-

BF0E-A6A76C450FAA\TraceFormat

The first guy here have over 20++ pages of troubleshooting:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52622

Look at page 21 to see what I mean: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52622&page=21

So there's a common factor here - only that his SP isnt working - and his MP is!

Hmmmmmmmmm.

I need to think.

Others may chime in on this post.

Or maybe I'm being led astry here.

Are maybe these environment settings something all ATI owners have?

- TRACE_FORMAT_SEARCH_PATH=\\NTREL202.ntdev.corp.mic rosoft.com\34FB5F65-FFEB-4B61-
