Well, I figured it out...Russia and Ukraine share skins 0, 3 and 4. The system then attaches either a star or a roundelle (sp ?).

 

Looking at the file it seems that if I generate a new GUID and add another layer to the cdds file I should be able to add another skin slot. Am I correct ? The old limit does not apply any more ?

No - I think you might be wrong.

 

The maximum number of skins an aircraft can have is set in the cmd or lua file in the Shapes folder, open up one of the cmd files and at the very bottom you will see what skins it will recognise. Creating a completely new model can overcome that but I do not know of any other way to do it.

Hod do people add extra skin slots for the same model then ?

 

I have seen references to that (Modman packages that advertise extra skins slots).

There is a file called SU-27.cmd in the shapes folder. Like you said there are entries at the bottom. I opened it in notepad but was afraid to edit. Not sure it would help either. What application would you use anyway ?
