The way I understand it, the proxi fuze is only needed when bombing from high alititude, to prevent the bomb to open too early. But when employing a cluster bomb from low level, opening as soon as possible is needed to get as much spread as possible. How comes that the Mk-20 is such an ineffective weapon at low level (because it doesn't have enough time to spread the clusters), while the BL755, which is basically the same weapon type, was especially intended to be used by Harriers, Tornados and Jaguars at low level?

First off, lets get something right... In a real aircraft when dropping these CBU's, the pilot has to set a burst altitude and an impact spacing along with an Arming delay. FC2 doesn't have any of these variables... instead it goes by some silly script.

Real Rockeye works differently. Minimum drop altitude is 500 Ft, 400Ft with 4G pull.

It has a 247 MK-118 bomblets capable of penetrating 7.5" thick armour. So when a Rockeye in FC2 Takes out 1 or 2 tanks Please DON'T JUSTIFY IT without knowing how they work.

And last but not least, if you have to resort to dropping mk82/84 iron bombs on a convoy then there is seriously something wrong the cluster weapons in FC2.

Peace

The pilots do not set this. They request the fusing and Ammo (guys who built the bomb) and Weapons crews (guys who load the bomb) set this parameters. This can only be done in the ground on MK-20/CBU-53/CBU-58/CBU-59/CBU-87/CBU-89/CBU-97 etc.

The setting I have seen are the burst altitude (how long the pattern) and spin ( how wide the pattern). Edit I only seen CBU-87 loaded, never seen Mk20 so not sure if it has spin setting as well.

Arming delay is also done in the ground. The only thing they can select from the cockpit is how many bombs to release and how far apart.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Where is the CCRP Steering Mode (o Key) switch/light in the cockpit?

Sometimes if you press the o key and you are not in the right attack position to use CCRP Steering Mode, the HUD does not show the box. So is Steering Mode on or off now? I press it again to see if it will come on, and now I am confused... did I just turn it off, or is it now on?

How can I tell if CCRP Steering Mode is on? Is there a light, switch, dial, or display in the cockpit to indicate it's state of on or off?

Thanks,

If I recall correctly it is because the BL-755 has the bomblets in tubes and uses pressurised gas to project the bomblets outward (thus leading to greater and more even spread in the first seconds after being triggered).

The only thing I can see that says CCRP looks like a HUD knob at the very top/left of the cockpit. It has Off, Nav, CCRP, CCIP, ect... but it does not seem to move.

Is there any indicator of the CCRP Steering Mode? Or if it simply does not put the box on your HUD when you press the o key, then it is not on? Maybe that's it.
