I know the 9K35 Strela-10 (SA-13 "Gopher") is an IR guided SAM. So, why does the manual say the Strela-10 gives a RWR warning? , to be more specific, it is represented by 13.

Also, I was looking in some "Open Falcon" manuals and they also state the strela-10 produce a warning in the RWR (13). could someone be so kind of explain this?:helpsmilie::helpsmilie:

I'm guessing here, but I think these SAMs use infrared and/or optical sensors for tracking (getting the position on the sky) combined with radar for ranging (getting the distance).

There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

MT-LBU "DOG EAR" F/G-band Target Acquisition Radar - Utilized by the Strela-10.

Correction: Designation as above will be DE (Momentary Madness........)

As Case correctly pointed out, '13' designation on the RWR refers to the 9S86 "SNAP SHOT" range only radar of the Strela-10.

I made some test in the mission editor and put the Strela-10 alone, and it didn't give any kind of warning in the RWR. It is supposed The 9S86 "SNAP SHOT" is located between the launchers. Is this radar alwasy active? or do I need something to force the unit to trun it on?

It never has given a RWR warning in any version of lockon, I can recall folks asking his question 6 years ago on the forums. I guess the Devs modelled Strela-10 with the operator being a "sneaky SOB" and not switching it on.
