ME - How do you designate a Target so a Diamond Symbol appears in the A10 HUD?

I am personally anticipating this feature in DCS:A-10. It really has to be implemented as interop with a FAC is the bread and butter of A-10 conops, so it would be madness not to have it. Also, it looks like it is a feature of the Battle Simulator, so it would make sense to have it in DCS.

bump. Trying to find targets, especially moving ones is very difficult to do in an aircraft moving at 400kph with no a/g radar. Suppose it's the way it was in these early generation aircraft but its a gamble to find a target in the su-25t.

I learned that you have to have at least one wingman...with the same target objectives....and then the diamond will show up.

Sorry for the slow reply Snacko. Here's the mission we flew the other night that you asked me to post here.

 

We use this in the War Hawks for FAM Flights in the A-10A. Its a simple series of waypoints with a target range located at the last one before heading back home. Fun formation flying through the valleys and mountains too.. :thumbup:

 

The target range is designated by a TRP from waypoint 10, but the diamond will show up from any waypoint so long as you have the HUD in a weapon mode. No wingman required, and it works for each aircraft in multiplayer whether you're alone or with a buddy.

 

You can even test it on the ramp without having to get airborne. Simply call up the weapons HUD and you'll see the "X'ed out" diamond on the side of the HUD. Get airborne and head towards the range and you'll see the diamond.

For FC v2.0 it appears you need a wingman with the same target but for FC v1.xx you can get the target diamond without a wingman when you desgnate a target. I prefer to think of it as being lased by ground troops.
