  1. Because it is a 3 dimensional world, so you can judge distance. Size can then be determined by comparing the object relative to your own size, accounting for the distance from yourself. Things such as a galaxy are too far away to be able to perceive the distance as each eye will have an almost identical image and therefore the scale iis difficult to determine. This is a different scenario to dcs scale though.
  2. I am guessing you are referring to the A-10C? Its a known issue and related to the default view (and is not designed for VR). You can move your seat or put your head forward and then reset the view. Other aircraft should be fine.
  3. What do you have textures set to? I think this makes a big difference for gauge readability.

  7. This is actually the cross controlled technique. You would have had to apply opposite aileron or you would have rolled towards the rudder and into the ground. It was probably so natural to compensate for the roll you didn't notice. In the crab technique you apply no rudder and fly in angled off from the runway like a crab walking across a beach sideways. In extreme crosswind you might even be looking through your side window at the runway. You then either kick it straight in the flare or if you aircraft is designed to do so, land angled off.
  8. That's because crab technique doesn't use rudder/sideslip. Your relative airflow is straight, you crab relative to the runway but remain 'into wind'. Cross controlled effect is called so because of this very effect of rudder. In crosswind if you apply rudder to straighten the aircraft relative the runway you have to apply opposite aileron to counter the roll thus: cross controlled. If you cast your mind back you were probably demonstrated this on your first flight as part of the "secondary effects of controls".

Don't spoil the magic :) Finding out how AI perform, what they react to, what they don't and then modifying your tactics to account the weakness in the game code only spoils the fun in the long run in my opinion. Finding out how stupid they are lessens the satisfaction of defeating them. Fly against them like they are human. Leave the secrets of AI logic to the magician mission makers and keep the magic alive :thumbup:

    Dirt Rally

    Just thought I would plug this title as it deserves it. It has come out as an 'early access' on steam and is top notch. Essentially codemasters have taken the Dirt series back to the sim market which is pretty exciting for those that have been waiting for a rally sim for a long time. If you are into rally, I highly recommend it.

  14. Yes that is correct behavior. Slip ball has nothing to do with the ground, it is the aircraft orientation in yaw reference the relative air flow
  15. We have the same issue (although have had this in all versions we have tried so far). We also still have the DCS crash on exiting as well. Do you guys have gossipbox working with the lastest version of Airborne Radio? I keep getting a version error when I try to install.
  16. Run the 'update DCS world' app as admin and you should be good to go.
  17. Sounds like the tropopause may be modeled in dcs world. Did you take note of your OAT? Temperature does not increase with altitude above the tropopause which impacts performance.
  18. They shouldn't move over time. The inertial has an embedded GNSS so both the markpoint and the system position should remain accurate. You can increase accuracy at high grazing angles by laser ranging the target when creating your markpoint.
  19. Sounds great guys. I have been using Aries a lot over the past few weeks and it has been great. The only feedback I would have so far is: -Would be great to have a mic click generated when transmitting as well as when receiving. -We have had problems with one particular client. When he joins all his quality levels immediately default to 0. In general joining clients seem to affect quality setting even if I keep hold of "game master" which means I often have to reset them back to where we prefer. -Would be great to make the radios (at least for CA) the full frequency range so you could have up to three VHF FM freqs (for instance). -Cipher for CA as previously discussed :) -Maybe even a "troops in contact" toggle for CA which when selected would generate background noise of gun fire etc Keep up the awesome work, looking forward to the update.
  20. Also- just double check you are actually making the vehicle your SPI (not just tracking it in point).

  22. Yep there is. Jump on our TS, introduce yourself and i am sure someone will give it to you. The reason you may not find a lot of open LotATC servers is that in PvP it can be used as a 'cheat' on a spare monitor which is why we would rather not publish our passwords here. Cheers.
