Ping Timeout isn't necessarily about high or low ping, it's about pings not getting there in the first place. Or does it say "ping too high"? In that case you are exceeding the server-set ping limits.

Note that you can have a good ping but still a bad connection - the ping only refers to the time for those packets that made it, there might be a lot of packets that don't make it at all.

For chatting, what exactly resides on the key varies with language, bot top left of your main keyboard, left of the "1" key and above the tabulation key.

On a swedish keyboard, the key would be "§". Top left, left of "1" and above tab. RCtrl-§ for team chat.

You can use the command prompt to ping the server and see if it responds or if you get packet losses. You can also take a tracert to the server to see if there are steps that are blocking you or if your route is extremely long.

- "Ping timeout" in FC2/DCS means "okai, we lost some data here - I'm no longer able to keep you connected".

- "Ping Timout" in Windows/Linux means "ICMP traffic did not reach it's destination".

There are 2 known causes for FC2/DCS ping timeouts.

1. A broken FC2/DCS configuration, when you edited the integrity check - it breaks the server-config, as well as the selected "server network speed".

It may contribute to a poor network configuration, and Ping-timeouts.

Here's how to fix it it is that problem, FOR SERVERS ONLY: MP Server - Custom Integrity check may break configuration.

2. Bad connections between hosts and clients.

Here's how to understand a bit more to troubleshoot about it (quite techy), FOR CLIENTS & SERVERS:

INFO: Servers, Clients and "Ping Timeout"
