Tangolima600 Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Hey guys, I had to reinstall windows 7 and before that BS's GUI worked just fine as did the sim itself. Since reinstalling there is a black flicker when I move my mouse in the GUI in full screen only. Windowed there are no issues, but when I'm in full screen there is this annoying black flashing that goes on when I move my mouse or change an option. Forutnately the sim works just fine but when you're designing a mission that flicker can get annoying real quick. Also, FC2's GUI gives me the same problem, but the sim works just fine as well. I have the latest DX and graphics card driver (Nvidia 7950gtx) and all my other 3d games work without a hitch. Let me know of any possible solutions. Thanks!
Tangolima600 Posted May 29, 2010 Author Posted May 29, 2010 bump... guess no one experienced this issue :(
Frederf Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Try, shortcut > compatibility > Disable desktop composition
Tangolima600 Posted May 29, 2010 Author Posted May 29, 2010 Didn't work. If it helps, I dont get the flicker until i put my mouse over a button, ie i can move my mouse around and outside the buttons but when i put it over, say, options or any other button, the flicker happens once and doesnt repeat until i move over another button. In options under controls it flickers a whole lot. The flicker is black, horizontal and is fast.
Tangolima600 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Update, flicker still exists even after the update to 1.2
Axion Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Not sure how relevant this is to Nvidia cards but have you tried reverting to older gfx drivers? I have experienced Black Shark GUI problems whilst using an old ATI card (X1900XT) running up to date drivers in the past. Asus Z390 Code XI, i9-9900K, RAM 32 Gig Corsair Vengeance @ 3200, RTX 2080 TI FE, TIR 5, Samsung 970 EVO 1TB, HOTAS WH, ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q, HTC Vive Pro, Win 10 x64
Tangolima600 Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 That did it! Strange because I thought I already updated to the new drivers. Thanks!!
bumfire Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Another tip, close firefox before starting the game. if I have firefox open, even if its minimised the gui will always end up with my taskbar at the bottom and end up flickering, only firefox causes it out of all my apps. It can be solved by disabling aero in win7/vista, but I dont do that so I always make sure to have firefox closed before going ingame.
DaddySchlich Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Just wanted to report that disabling Desktop Composition in Shortcut/Properties/Compatibility in both Black Shark and Flaming Cliffs 2, as suggested by Frederf above, solved the problem in both problems in Windows 7 on my Sony VAIO. I did not disable aero, and I have not tried running the games with Firefox open because I want all resources devoted to the game. Frederf, a tip of the hat - I can't imagine how you ever figured that out. Daddy Schlich
