topol-m
2 things: 1. Guys, why the HELL don`t we have automatic radar scanning area elevation in TWS mode for the F-15? I believe it have been made clear that in RL the radar does that for you so why it`s not in FC2, even though it has been discussed long before FC2 got out. 2. What happened to the "automatic lock on the nearest target" function that`s also present in RL in the russian aircraft as well (as it has been discussed in this already ancient thread that I didn`t want to revive: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=42498). I think Yoda was doing something about it... what happened nobody knows... :( Now before some of you guys tell me that`s a function that we already have for "easy radar setting" in the game go take a look at the thread mentioned above. This a real life function that will be very useful in heavy aircraft populated area and with the intensive use of ECM, you know in situations where parts of a second define whether you live or die that time saving function is a good thing. RvEYoda
Topol, try ERI and/or Leavu http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=53464 1 S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
RvEFuSiOn
It's there in the ERI mod which yoda made... Peace
topol-m
Topol, try ERI and/or Leavu http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=53464 I`ve always loved LEAVU but I`m stuck with 1 monitor right now so it`s a no no for me. :( How is ERI working? Do I need a separate screen again or it`s like a mod that you install and it changes the radar functionality? And man, why isn`t your work implemented in FC2 already arrrgghhhhh! GGTharos
ERI does not require an additional screen, and it does give you some additional functionality. To answer #1: It was out of scope. To answer #2: No idea, I didn't notice that had gone away. Besides which, when ERI implemented something like this there was much crying; certainly people brought up good arguments, but I don't think those arguments were that great after some thought. Example: The target step was violently protested, and it was brought up that it worked too quickly. Indeed, in RL it takes several hits on the contact before you can step to it, at least AFAIK - but all FC radars generate tracks instantly, so while it may have been wrong with respect to RL, it wasn't really all that wrong with respect to FC radars. Other problems include stepping to the wrong (possibly friendly) target, and that I believe was already simulated in the target step function. The additional nice thing with this function is that it allows you to change your primary target when several targets are bugged in TWS. topol-m
^^^ Installing it ASAP. BTW in my crystal ball I see Yoda working on the MFDs of the DCS: Fighter in not so distant future. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
topol-m
Hey I`ve just tried ERI, great work Yoda. How could I miss it? BTW another question, before ERI, several times I have experienced the following: in TWS I`m trying to bug the target but instead of bugging it the radar is actually locking it going into STT. What`s causing this? Yeah, I`m sure I haven`t pressed the button twice. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN
Was this in vanilla FC2, not after the patch? If so the target might have had jammers on. If you had burn-through on a jammer the radar would display it as an ordinary target, but a bug would cause it to give you an STT lock, not a TWS lock. The patch fixed this as far as I've seen. GGTharos
Another possibility is that the target is too close to ERI's TWS vertical slew limits so it's going STT to avoid losing the target. topol-m
Was this in vanilla FC2, not after the patch? If so the target might have had jammers on. If you had burn-through on a jammer the radar would display it as an ordinary target, but a bug would cause it to give you an STT lock, not a TWS lock. The patch fixed this as far as I've seen. Well I think it was in the vanilla, it occurred 2-3 times but I think the target was in WVR... To be honest I haven`t experienced that for a while. I`ll see if that will happen again with ERI. EtherealN
Yeah, back in vanilla the issue was that you'd get STT at any range even when in TWS mode if the target had active jammer - this includes when the target appears as a non-jammer due to being within burnthrough range. This bug was squashed with the patch, I think.
