I'm sure this has been discussed before....so I apologies for the repatition.... and the simulation is the best I've ever played, so please take this in context, (there there developers, have some more peanuts)

Wingman RTB:

Your wingman appears to plot the shortest course home when told to RTB. This would not appear unreasonable until he tries to fly over a mountain 500 meters above the max hight his aircraft can achieve. He then hovers or loops around like a confused fly until he runs out of fuel and crashes.

Wingman "Unable"

It appears if the AI is set to good or below, he can't actually do much (as much use as a chocolate fireguard) Attempting to order him to engage anything at all results in an "unable"

Wingman Fuel Low:

If the wingman is low on fuel, he does nothing about it, no Bingo call, no request to RTB, he just crashes. This happens even if he's above a friendly airfield.

Some people call that dedication :music_whistling:

It is the AI in general not just your wingmen, anything below good seems to be next to useless. I had some AI setup to blow the hell out of a few buildings in the middle of a field, the way points took them up to it and told them to attack, they just carried on and ignored it. Turned up the skill level and they took it out in a piece of orchestrated harmony.

Here is my fix to the wingman problem:

1. Start the mission from the missions folder, you can start all campaign missions from there.

2. As soon as you take off tell your flight to RTB

3. Play the mission solo, if you want to you can always come back and rearm or quit and go on to the next mission.
