snowman123 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Hi all. Anyone a member of Civil Air Patrol here? Either cadet or senior. I'm A TSgt. For those who don't know, the Civil Air Patrol is the Auxillary of the United States Air Force. We are very similar to the ROTC, but unlike ROTC, not many people know about us, and we actually do the things ROTC only trains to do. We have the largest fleet of cessna aircraft in the US. We handle emergency services, national security, and much more. Examples below. During 9-11, only the air force and us were allowed to be in the air. Remember the pictures of the twin tower burning . They were taken by us. We search from the air and the ground for downed aircraft, and boats. We offer flight training in both powered and nonpowered aircraft. We were the first on scene when the haiti earthquake struck. So is anybody either a membere of or has heard of the C.A.P? Go ahead, Make it idiot proof, someone will just find better idiots...;)
mvsgas Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I have heard of C.A.P. Many year ago I almost join up. Also see you guys in Oshkosh. Just kind of weird inquiry on a game forum, why do you ask? http://www.eielson.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123123816 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
snowman123 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Oshkosh, yep that's our blue beret special activity. Completion earns you a nice blueberry pankake to wear, and a sweet 8 ball patch. I asked because its an air force thing. Go ahead, Make it idiot proof, someone will just find better idiots...;)
snowman123 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Locate a squadron, either online, in the phone book, or by word of mouth. There is a sqadron locator page online, can't remeber there. just google it. Atttend a few meetings to see if it is for you. Most commanders won't give you the application on the first night, only to have you decide you don't like it. It costs 45$ to sign up, plus a little more for uniforms, But believe me it's WORTH IT. If you are a pilot, or better yet, own an aircraft, Hi-Wing cessna type only, or glider, then they get you all checked out and you are good to fly for us on missions. Reply for any further Questions. Go ahead, Make it idiot proof, someone will just find better idiots...;)
nscode Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Hi-Wing cessna type only why? Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
snowman123 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Cant exactly do search and rescue if you can't see the ground.:smartass: Go ahead, Make it idiot proof, someone will just find better idiots...;)
nscode Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 You can, from lots of non-cessna high wings, helicopters, etc :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
snowman123 Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 cap DOES NOT use helo. Too expensive to maintain, too hard to train pilots... various reasons :( Go ahead, Make it idiot proof, someone will just find better idiots...;)
