You'll need to have LOMAC installed but after you've installed FC2 you can uninstall LOMAC if you're not going to be playing it and want the disk space back.

Otherwise, you shouldn't need to do anything special. You might want to install outside of C:\Program Files though, since newer versions of Windows do some funky stuff behind the scenes to protect the directory which can cause confusion (for both you and the game).

Thanks a lot, ;) but when I install lomac, I close the autorun screen and start the installer by hand from Windows Explorer, every step needs to be executed with Administrator privileges?? :helpsmilie:

This procedure is correct??

Admin priviliges would depend a lot on your directory choise. If I were to do a complete reinstall I'd do this:

1 - Install LOMAC (vanilla) into C:\Games\LOMAC

2 - Install FC2 into C:\Games\FC2

This avoids some Vista issues with how it wants to protect program files, and should not require Admin privs - though that depends on how you have your Windows setup. If it does ask for admin privs, just give it to it.

Out of interest, is this stuff fixed for DCS:A10, or are we still going to have to mess around with UAC, VirtualStore and the like for that too?

Haril, you are talking to the wrong people.

Microsoft are the developers of Windows, not ED. And this is all internal operating system stuff.

No, not really. Every single other piece of software that's come out in the last 5 years has been able to follow Microsoft's guidelines and put config files and user generated files like Lock On's tracks and screen shots in Documents And Settings (XP) or Users (Vista, 7).

I was stunned when Black Shark came out and was still trying to save user generated config files in the game's install directory. I'd like to think that ED has moved on from this to save files in locations where they're meant to be saved, but your answer doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Many thanks EtherealN!!

1) Now, I have installed LOMAC into C:\Games\LOMAC

2) I'm waiting delivery, and after I will install FC2 into C:\Games\FC2 :pilotfly:
