shackman Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I'm having trouble bringing in the C-17 on the 2nd mission of the camp. I set out and join up with him, but I'm always ahead of him and when he starts a descent he loses me in the clouds. How do you finish this mission? [sIGPIC]http://www.vrsimulations.com/images/sigbanners/vrs_supporter.png[/sIGPIC]

EvilBivol-1 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I think the issue is quite simply as you described it - you are losing him in the clouds. As a bit of a cheat, you can try to padlock him before the descent. This will make it quite easy to follow his through the clouds. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. shackman Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Well I was able to bring him down but as described in another post never got a mission complete or failed, or response from the tower? [sIGPIC]http://www.vrsimulations.com/images/sigbanners/vrs_supporter.png[/sIGPIC]
EvilBivol-1 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Oh, then something went wrong. Arriving ahead should not be a problem. Do you get a greeting from him when you form up? Does he chat with you a bit on the way home? If so, just stay close to him (within a couple of miles) all the way until he touches down. You should then be cleared to RTB to Kutaisi. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules

Did all of that, He talked to me a bit on the way in and I stayed in trail less than 1nm through the clouds, and he went on final and touched down and taxied in. But I requested to land and the tower never came back, and I never got a mission complete. [sIGPIC]http://www.vrsimulations.com/images/sigbanners/vrs_supporter.png[/sIGPIC]
EvilBivol-1 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Sorry, I'm not sure. Perhaps if you have a track I can take a look at it. You should get a message from him thanking your for the support right after he touches down. At that point you can return to your own base at Kutaisi, which is not the base he is landing at, but the one you took off from. Once you land there, you should get a mission complete. In fact, all missions in the campaign end successfully when you land back at base, assuming you met the mission objectives previously. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. EvilBivol-1 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 No problem, glad it worked out. As bengo suggested, look up Ven's F-15 campaign AARs for some ideas in case you have trouble in subsequent missions. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. Maximus Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 another way not to lose the C17 in cloud is keep c17 locked on your radar. so you know where it goes. another issue. you have to orbit around the base where C17 land, stay orbiting until c17 has sucessfully stopped on the parking lot. Maximus, The only real Maximus in DCS World. :music_whistling: I am not associated to viper 33 | Maximus. he is the imposter.
EvilBivol-1 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Good tip on the radar lock. However, there is no need to orbit and wait for him to park. As soon as you get the "thank you" message, you are free to RTB. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
