I've been playing the Georgian Oil war campaign recently and much to my disappointment, it seems like there is no actual mission progression in this game.

If I crash at the beginning of a mission it still goes on to the next one and so on. It feels rather pointless, like i'm not actually accomplishing anything by completing objectives while I could just kill myself immediately and move on to the next mission.

Is it supposed to be like this? Do all the campaigns have no progression or is it just the oil war campaign? I really like to having a sense of progression and accomplishment in a campaign but without that, I don't see any point in completing it.

Is my game bugged or it really supposed to be like this?

Well, the Georgia Oil War campaign is a set of prescripted missions. Which prescripted mission you get depends on how your performance was in the last mission. It's all based on the "mission score" system, where if you complete objectives or kill units, you are awarded points. How many points you have at the end of the mission determines which mission you get next. That's about as dynamic as you're gonna get with DCS, currently. Eagle Dynamics isn't a big dev team and they have their hands full trying to develop the new modules. If you want a good dynamic campaign, you'll just have to load up Falcon 4, in particular Falcon 4 Allied Force (AF has the best and most bug free campaigns). Be prepared for late 90s early 00s graphics and a flight model that feels like it's on rails. Still undoubtably the best fighter sim (best as in, the most realistic), and sad to say it, but it's still the best fighter sim for the foreseeable future :(

Im not sure why your having this problem. I for one have been unable to progress. Some of the missions I have so much difficulty with that end playing the same 4 missions over and over again as I go forward two and then back two, forward 1, back 1 or 2 etc. I have been unable to complete chapter 2 in the last 6 months. Usually dieing either sets me back a mission or I stay on the current mission. The campaign has never advanced for me after dying unless my wingman happened to survive and complete the mission goals which is almost never.

Thats odd. Ive gone through like 5 different missions (without completing any objectives) and the game acts like it cant recognize that I failed.
