hollywoody Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Hi, When flying in multiplayer red against blue with labels turned off....how can you tell (when locked on a target) if your target is friend or foe? I had a mishap when I thought my target was the enemy but found out it wasn't. thanks guys... Waldo_II Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Check if the target is in the enemy zone, be familiar with the armor of each faction, know friendly element movements, etc. If you're feeling paticularly daring, do a flyby at the outer limits of its engagement range and see if you can see any tracers.
Frederf Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Strictly speaking you don't know. It's all "levels of confidence." The more tests you can apply the better your confidence can get. Location is one of the best tests, but means knowing the mission and battlefield well enough. If the equipment is different (RU vs US) then that be good, many times equipment is the same on both sides. What the target is doing can provide good clues. Sometimes you just have to err on the side of safety and not shoot of potential enemy that might also be a potential friend.
Havok Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 best way is to use TS or Ventrilo. Also, try and push them to use their self ID's. Not using it is ridiculous and causes alot of probs for your m8's when they have to take focus from something important simply beause someone doesnt use it. At the same time, some simply dont know and should be instructed on its usage.
shu77 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Nothing bugs me more than when people arent on TS. My real wish for DCSW is built in voice comms using the radio frequencies, so that it is the default rather than an add on to what is going on in multiplayer Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools
CAT_101st Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Read the breafing first. Know the mission befor going in. Be on the VOIP program that the sever is on. know the side you are on and the type of epuipment being used on both sides. Hopefuly target points are used for the target insted of a WP. (pet peav) and over all seet time in multy player severs over time you will learn what to look for as you go on the missions.
