The UK Guardian wrote the following about an upcoming US arms deal with Saudi: "Iran is certainly the only advanced state that Saudi Arabia needs to fear as a credible armed opponent in the next decade. Certain weapon systems like upgraded missile defences are explicitly concerned with Iran. The advanced sensors in the new Saudi F-15s will have fail-safes to prevent their effective use against US aircraft such as the types used by Israel."

Any idea what such fail-safes might be?

Should have gone for the fully functional Russian hardware. Sad thing is, they pay like 2 to 3 times the going rate.

Also is it so difficult to remove them?

Israel would only accept a sale of Hawk batteries to Jordan in the seventies if the batteries were fixed. They purchased them, then put them on some trucks. Israel also blocked a sale of A-10A's to Jordan back when the US was trying to offload them.
