Deadman's A-10 C Cockpit Build

Deadman, Stang and fellow builders,

I reached out to Deadman and he agreed to design and upload these DDI and MPCD prints to his Shapeways shop. I wanted a print that would be faithful to the original size and design, use easily sourced low profile switches, have room for wiring and offer enough projection to somewhat simulate the depth and varied projections in the Hornet pit yet allow the use of a single monitor behind an MDF mask. Unfortunately, the square push buttons don’t come in gray and are not backlit. I masked each button and sprayed them with Testors dark gray and a matte clear coat. Each button snaps into place with no wiggle or added glue needed. The rotary and potentiometer holes are all sized for 1/8” shaft rotary switches and potentiometers, and could be drilled out for 1/4” versions. Each mounting hole is reinforced and full depth of the print. Deadman has the actual parts listed that he made them to fit. For the Harrier builders the MPCD looks identical to the displays in the AV-8B. I still need to cut the shafts on the pots and rotaries once I sort out the knobs to use, these aren’t quite right yet. Thanks Deadman great job! 914843eb563cde987342dab161dd021a.file434e0026eb3c5b62d076567efe59bc04.file

Awesome Fusedspine! (me too)

Deadman's work (as usual), is typically spot on, and that bezel looks fantastic with the switches and rotaries in place.

Have you built up your cockpit yet?

The left and right consoles are 80% complete. Started with using hobby level rotaries and switches and just wasn’t satisfied with how they felt. I have been adding better quality as my budget allows. With these I now have enough to template and build the front dash MDF mask.

Hi Deadman,

Just curious, did you design your Shapeway DDI and MPCD display bezels for a specific monitor / display?

If so, which one?

Also, Did you do the Heading Course Box for the MPCD? Is it available on Shapeways? I'm not seeing it if it is.

Thanks and great work on the design. Top notch as usual!

My plan when I asked him to make these is a single 28” monitor displaying the 2 DDIs , MPCD, IEFI, RWR as viewports and the 5 backup instruments by Helios. Unfortunately there are no square mini monitors and the more monitors you add the worse FPS suffers.

NO this was designed to Fusedspine33 spec you may find an acceptable 5 inch square or 7 inch sq tft display with a driver board either on the net some place i have seen them but do not have a link. I could easily adapt the bezel for either

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
