Orao Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 HI there. I have a question concerning russian AT missile (the one laser guided). Why does this thing spin like crazy when it's fired ??? I'm expecting a serious awnser. Thx for awnsering.
GGTharos Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Its propulsion system contains buttered toast tied to the back of a cat. Actually, the reason is that it only has 2d controls - ie it can only go left/right, so in order to turn up/down as well, it must spin. Sealpup Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 It's control system is only capable of turning the missile on one axis. So in order to allow the missile to home in on target, it spins. Think of it as a plane with only elevators. It can only control pitch. If said plane constantly rolled, those elevators could control pitch one moment, yaw the next.
