I've been experimenting of am I better with A/A or A/G and apparently A/G is the answer. I'm 1/2 way through the Hog campaign, prepping for DCS A-10C. But 1 thing puzzles me and that is pretty much every mission has tons of SAMs and AAA. When in reality you'd have had a SEAD flight go in and at least surpress the area somewhat. I'm just curious as to why my flight is the only flight in the mission and I don't have any support as compared top real life.

To make it harder, presumably.

Absent strong air defence, the only challenge for the Hog driver is locating and hitting the assigned targets. Since locating the targets is trivially easy in the game, and making it harder would require much much more production time per mission, they opted for the easier method to make it challenging by putting in lots of AD.

Mostly though you're up against SHORADS; the longer range SAMs are there simply to keep you low enough that you have to care about the existence of the SHORADS. There is at least one mission where the Tunguskas are taken out by a friendly SEAD flight, though I did find they tended to be ineffective and I needed to Maverick one of them myself more often than not ...

I wouldn't say that finding targets is "trivially easy". On the missions where FAC doesn't mark the target with smoke, I sometimes get lost for a few minutes before I manage to find the target. Many times there will be a T-72 hiding in a treeline or amongst buildings, and without a Maverick I can't find them at all.

And the soda straw IR mav technique only works if you are looking in right area anyway. Pre-flight map recon and waypoint tweaking help a lot however as the campaign intel & maps leave a lot to be desired compared to............the .......other....game.

Thats one area I want A-10 to get right.
