Snake762 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I would like to be able to report all the good things about this sim but right now i'm pulling my hair out trying to get the engines to to start, throttles to work, and my track like it is ir to work. other than that from what everyone else is saying it sounds like it's ok. Just uninstalled the dam thing. Too frustrated, wasted too many hours trying to get it working right.
nemises Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Heya Snake, Don't give up, it all does work.. Your main issue, I'm sure, is trying to get it all going instantly without rtfm :) ... don't worry I'd be doing exactly the same.. There's lots of posts around indicating the most likely issues your seeing ...trackir for eg: - make sure you are running the 32 bit install only if you want to use trackir (even if on a 64bit OS), and natural point havent released game support for the 64bit exe yet. - make sure to "update game support" from within trackir, so it recognises the 32bit exe Engines: -make sure to follow the ramp start procedure fully...chance are you are moving your throtle axis, and expecting to see the in cockpit throttle move...it will not, as it is locked in place by detents.....once the APU is up and running, press the left engine the right engine start keys, THEN you will see the throttle move when you change the throttle axis. - alternatively, double check you are mapping your throttle axis to the correct axis in options...if you are using an X52, it will try to map it to "slider 1" by default. It does work, and it works for many many people... the problems, I'm afraid, are between keyboard and chair ;) Good luck mate, hope you take a deep breath and decide to re-install....it really isn't that hard to work it out, just need some patience
ED Team Yo-Yo Posted October 7, 2010 ED Team Posted October 7, 2010 Nah you're probably right. I have to re-check the fuel feed particulars. Might be that they only feed from the bottom of the tank (or other similar issue) which could cause issues with negative g flight lasting longer than x amount of seconds. This is a real issue in other aircraft, not sure about the A-10 itself. A-10 has negative -G fuel intakes , but they can supply only small amount of fuel when in neg-G conditions. Not that it's important to anyone, but I think I'll wait until later before pro-ordering, or just wait for release. I don't have the time to study another sim AND cope with the beta bugs (I'm not done with Black Shark anyway, and handling 2 study sims at once can be daunting). That said, putting out the beta was a brilliant marketing move, at least at this stage, with this gaming community (most other communities would erupt in complaint threads screaming about bugs, regardless of beta status). With all the screenshots and the likes I'm seeing, there is no way I am not purchasing this sim. Now, the only question is whether or not I can afford the HOTAS Warthog when it comes out. :) Itkovian
andysim Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 :thumbup:Most wonderfull sim Ive ever purchased in my whole 10 years of flight simming. I have never flown an A-10 but I can honestly say it feels right. It feels like I would expect from a company like DCS. The release they gave us could pass as final retail from any other company (though im not sure if there is anyone who can do what these guys have done) its that good. Hats off to DCS and the team.:) 1
