Glide path

Is the glide path on the hog really that low as it is shown on the left side from the hud? or is it still wip?

i'm not a real pilot, but compared tho other sims, that is very low! :)

oh and a bonus question

what is the landing speed for empty hog with lets say 50% fuel? the landing tutorial isn't working for me :(

Land by AoA, not speed.

And ... glidepath low? What? :D It's a standard 3-deg glide path.

the thing with a triangle up, triangle down and a blue circle in it.. left from the HUD. i thought it represents the correct glide path :P what is it there for?

It represents correct angle of attack. You can easily attain it off the glide path, by pretending your runway is 2000' higher up in the air. The doughnut tells you that you have the correct attitude (speed, pitch, ie. AoA) for the aproach.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

As per the A10A flight performance manual,

GW-30000lbs Flaps 20 Final App Speed is about 120Kts.

GW-35000lbs Flaps 20 Final App Speed is about 130Kts.

GW-40000lbs Flaps 20 Final App Speed is about 140Kts.

GW-45000lbs Flaps 20 Final App Speed is about 150Kts.

Flaps 0 Speeds are 10 Kts faster.

Touchdown speeds are 10Kts slower.

Obviously this is for an A model so these will be a little slow (I think).

As for the GS, use the AoA indexer on the left of the HUD, aim for the blue circle (On AoA) for touchdown.

I managed to land with my airspeed, vertical airspeed, and hud altimeter indicator broken using just AoA and pnematic altimeter. Actually the landing went very smooth until I was halfway down the runway when one of the main landing gears buckled. Was pretty shot up.

Actually, there is a much easier way to get to the correct glide path and hold it in the A10 and other modern A/C

The circle with the 3 lines stick out of it is the Flight Path indicator(FPI) and tells you where you are going, not where you are pointed (which is attitude).

So, adjust your attitude and descent rate to place the FPI on the end of the runway AND make sure the FPI is at the -3 degree point on the pitch ladder, NOW you are on a 3 degree glide path.

that's a very good hint, thanks.. i always pointed the FPI to the start of the runway and the gun cross at the end of the runway.. but that is bit too high i think.. but i have to try your way
