(1.) when the JTAC says "type-3", or "type-2", what does this mean?

(2.) this is more specific to the shooting gallery mission, when the JTAC uses IP and egress points such as "FORDD", and "EDSEL" in his 9-line, what IP and egress points are he referring to?

The JTAC Flexibility thread has a lot of information about how the JTAC works in-game. I'd recommend reading the whole thing.

This post answers your specific question; also scroll down to Eddie's reply (#15).

In the editor, you can place Navigation Points with those names. I haven't found any way to access those locations within the sim, so generally you just have a waypoint colocated with them. Alternatively their location might be given in the briefing and you just have to remember.

In the Shooting Gallery mission, waypoint 4 (IP) is located next to one of the nav points, which I believe is referred to as FORDD in the game.

But: this seems to all be work in progress, as the actual nav points in the mission are "Adder" (next to WP 4: IP) and "Mazda" (a bit to the southeast of WP 5: T55, at the JTAC location).

Neither of those are actually called "FORD" (let alone "FORDD"), so there's either something going on that I've totally missed, or it's just a WIP. But for the Shooting Gallery mission, just using WP 3 as ingress seems fine (unless they tell you to ingress from a particular direction).
