Bahger Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 A little help here, gents, if possible: If I have all units in place and set to a 12:00 start time, does the 23 hour delay necessary for creating a random apprearance condition mean setting its clock to 11:00? What does the check box on the time line mean and what does it mean when the numerals turn red? Many thanks, as ever.
Frederf Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Delay is relative to mission start. Two hours delay and mission start 15:00 means delay until 17:00. The point of a long delay is such that the delay-start time trigger is so far into the future that it will never take effect before any other type of trigger. For example if you have A B and C units on 20 minutes delay and a trigger to activate A that fires at 7 minutes, then A will activate at 7 minutes and B and C will activate at 20. The "23 hour" convention was chosen because it's the longest time in whole hours that isn't longer than a day. If I remember correctly there was a bug that made delays involving a number of days ( HH: MM: SS / DD ) other than 0 not work. I don't know what red numerals or the checkbox mean.
Grimes Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 the red checkboxes are for speed and time locks. Currently the first waypoint needs time "checked". For all of the other waypoints... well, it works like this. If time is checked the group will attempt to arrive at the waypoint at that precise time. Think of it as a "Preferred ETA." The AI will adjust their speed accordingly to arrive at the waypoint at the specified time. If Speed is checked (as is default) they just try to maintain whatever speed is listed in the box. There are a whole set of rules for when the boxes can be checked. If its red, that means there was an error. So you can't have both checked, its one or the other. I've yet to figure it out 100% and there is a chance that it might change as the beta progresses. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
