Bahger - Sorry for the wait. Here is my simple JTAC test mission.

Targets are two Artillery units and FAC is Hummer set to task you with guided bombs (wanted then to use their laser for spotting). You can utilize the LSS to search for laser marking and use as spot. Your Hog is loaded with GBU-10 and GBU-12. The trigger zone activates the FAC and lets you know what radio and frequency to use (72MHz VHF-FM). After the message appears you are clear to contact the FAC on designated frequency. Lots of jibber jabber back and forth when you start your run in. Love this sim.

Enjoy.

Can we use left MFCD in SOI to determine those coordinates? It's realy unrealistic to pause, alt tab and use the converter then open the map and look it up ...

Left MFCD? Both MFCDs can display any sensor, so that's pretty vague.

If you mean the TAD, then yes. There's a button to switch between the coordinate systems, and any item you move the cursor over will have its coordinates shown at the bottom of the display.

The TGP can also display the coordinates using either system. To configure that, in A/G mode hit CTRL and then press the L/L button to toggle it.

The commonly held perception that air crews can positively identify friend from foe before weapons release has been proven false in JTAC assessments. Additionally, even the best trained that cannot accurately predict a weapon's impact point in this environment. Failure to correct these basic deficiencies in visually based terminal attack control equates to continually treating the symptoms while failing to cure the disease.

I really look forward to testing this, bulletproof, and learning from its construction, many thanks.

One quick question: Is it true that the FAC will only lase the target in the dark?

I have set this mission to midday and midnight and lasing occurs at both times. Make sure to set target point as MARK and then SPI the MARK from HUD .. it helps with the laser find when FAC lases target.

Hey Bulletproof, I've been playing your mission, it's great for JTAC/LGB practice. However, I must be getting something wrong because I cannot get the laser to go into Laser Spot Search mode (i.e. with the cross-screen crosshairs). I'm sure I must be missing something very simple. After getting the 9-line and responding accordingly I make the data point my SPI in the TAD, which basically invalidates the need to track by laser because I can acquire the target from there with the TGP. However, in order to see how lasing works, I make sure I'm in "Laser" or "Both" (i.e. not IR only) and hit LSS; nothing. Am I supposed to receive a message or signal when lasing commences from the FAC?

Bahger - Ya when the conversation occurs with the FAC you need to tell him to LASER ON. Don't do it until you are within 10 nautical miles or you will not track. Make sure you SPI the target zone to place the tgp in the ballpark and then tms short down to remove the track. You can now hit lss or dms long right for laser search. It will take a few secs and then track. Than you can SPI the target that was lased. If I spent some time and made a youtube account I would FRAPS capture the gameplay and post it.

That would be helpful.

Finally did it. Realised that you need to call "IP Inbound" before you get the option to radio the FAC to lase, makes sense I suppose.

As far as initial target acquisition is concerned, i.e. getting the laser search area near enough to the target to avoid too wide-ranging a search process, I have found that if you make the TGP your SOI from the outset, but use the TAD to maneuver the diamond icon (your TGP cursor) to the datalinked triangle before commencing the laser scan, the search will find the lased target pretty quickly.

Random info for mission builders...Lines 1,2,3 are mostly for deconfliction from other CAS assets. To deconflict from friendlies, you will usually get a final attack heading restriction after the remarks. Read back is line 4,6 and restrictions, so you can see which lines are the most important...
